Correct spelling

[edit]

Melle Mel is sometimes spelled Mele Mel, it's true - but I wouldn't say this is the right spelling. That's why I deleted the last sentence "Correct spelling is Mele Mel (not Melle Mel)" and changed all the "Mele" to "Melle".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have several recordings of him, and he's almost always credited as "Melle Mel" or "Grandmaster Melle Mel" (for example on the album: "Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five", or the compilations "The B Boy Document" and "Grandmaster Flash, The Furious Five, Grandmaster Melle Mel: The Greatest Hits" etc.) On the other hand, on his 1997 album "Right Now", he's credited as "Grandmaster Mele-Mel"...
Anyway, he's now most notably known as (Grandmaster) Melle Mel, and this seems to be the most usual spelling of his name.

Ethnicity

If Kid Creole is his brother, on Creoles article it says he has a french canadian mother and a dominican father. Did they have the same parents? It would be said that hes a bi-racial american? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.202.91.60 (talk) 01:55, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

His brother calls himself Kid Creole, but it's not the famous one with the retro shtick, who is actually born in Montreal. This article says that Melle Mel has a French Canadian mother, probably assuming incorrectly that Mel's brother is --70.51.184.243 (talk) 05:40, 13 February 2008 (UTC)the better-known Kid Croele. So that part should be zapped or at least proven.[reply]

Laurence (Larry) Fishburne

[edit]

I am not sure Laurence Fishburne was "unknown" at the time of the video for "The Message." He had already done Apocalypse Now! and The Cotton Club, and more. Granted, he was not yet the superstar he would become with the Matrix, but he was not an "unknown" in Hollywood terms. An "unknown" would have had zero speaking film credits, whereas mid-80's vintage Fishburne had many.
