Re this removal, the edit summary was "Rm unsourced. Irrelevant". But as far as I can see, they are all sourced and all relevant. They may be somewhat trivial, but that's a different problem? Martinevans123 (talk) 10:51, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why is mentioning her mother's religion relevant? Do we do this with every notable person? No, of course not. Whenever people see something like this they are prompted to wonder about it and whether there's some hidden significance - ie, is it some weird dog whistle?
Now, I'm not religious and couldn't give a monkey's about her religious (or otherwise) family upbringing. But it feels oddly discordant to me as a WP editor of many years who strives for an encyclopaedic, un-biased website. Blitterbug10:10, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the source doesn't actually support the claim anyway. It talks about her maternal grandparents and says "They had a middle-class lifestyle over there. They are Catholic Anglo-Indians and it was a charmed life. My nana was a lady of leisure and it was only when she came to England that she needed to work." Her mother probably is/was Catholic also, and this cultural niche may be notable in itself. It might also explain why Sykes took Religious Studies as an A-level subject. But I think it may not need explicit mention. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:40, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
