I have added more info to the Mastaba section, which I gained first hand on a visit in 2002. --Commking 05:29, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Height?

[edit]

The height of this building cannot be 65m and 93m at the same time. Was the pyramid built on a hill in the landscape or is the hill man-made (as Egyptian_pyramids#Meidum says)? http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?buildingID=10080 What could the original height have been? Some believe the pyramid to have collapsed not until the New Kingdom [...]

[edit]

First, who is "some"? Second, what exactly do these "some" base their theory on?

There are a number of good reasons why Mendelssohn's "collapse during building" theory is at least controversial in Egyptology, if not outright outdated and refuted.

The article does not cover that, and cites Mendelssohn exclusively as this would be the only and last word on what happened at Meidum. Please improve this. 31.18.115.57 (talk) 10:14, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, the article on Sneferu's predecessor Huni discusses the Meidum pyramid a bit and mentions later authors' opinions that its collapse was a gradual, drawn-out process long after it had been built, rather than a catastrophic event during its construction. The account here needs to be updated. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 07:48, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
