Should be listed under "Animation villains"
[edit]Awhile back I edited the article to put Megatron into the categories of the following:
"Fictional mass murderers" "Fictional evil geniuses" "Animation villains"
The first two have since been kept, but the third one was quickly taken out, but I was alright with that happening, since I assume the person who removed it figured that because he is listed under "Predacons" and "Vehicons", his status as a villain is already there (since both the article for Vehicon and the article for Predacon are listed under "Villain groups"), and so actually listing Megatron as a villain would be completely redundant. However, I now see that the original Megatron IS listed under "Animation villains", as is Galvatron, despite both also being listed under their respective villainous Transformers factions, which themselves are listed as "Villain groups". There can't be a double standard here, I don't think. I really think that this Megatron should indeed be listed under the category "Animation villains". I really don't think that saying he is simply a Predacon or a Vehicon is enough, as really he was far more than that, particularly in Beast Machines, where it actually seems that calling him a Vehicon is erroneous. I mean, he created the Vehicons, and led them, but I don't think he really was one himself, no matter what form he was in. So, I would really like to put him under the category "Animation villains", but I'm afraid someone would once again remove him from the category.
Taxobox
[edit]Shouldn't Megatron have a taxobox? Most other Beast Wars/Beast Machines characters seem to have one( as well as all the other Megatrons)? SMegatron 09:59, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Ah. Thanks, Mathingwash.81.158.170.168 13:07, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
New image
[edit]Quick question, but as the Optimus Primal article has the IDW Beast Wars cover of the 3 versions of Optimus as its taxobox image is it possible to get the Megatron variant cover of the three versions of him as this one's image? It would provide a good comparison with the Primal article, as well as being much better than the current image. --81.158.169.64 10:07, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree with whoever put that up originally - it looks much better now. Well done Chris. SMegatron 09:55, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
History
[edit]I added mention of every time a new character came under command of Megatron or was lost to him. I think it's important enough to mention, as he is a commander. So when Blackarachnia or anyone else joined or left his command, I think it should be mentioned.
Rubber Duck?

Timelines
[edit]Now that the BotCon Timelines comic showing the prelude to the Beast Wars has been officially distributed through Diamond, should the section describing the events in it be moved from the BotCon section to a separate Timelines section? It seems more approprite now its not just a BotCon story. SMegatron 11:46, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- I just rejigged the section a bit and was thinking the same thing. Heck, maybe it could even be moved up to before the "Beast Wars" animated series entry to put the storyline of the article in chronological order. - Chris McFeely 12:54, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Was thinking muuch the same thing. The only reason I havent is that I thought the animated series stuff should take precedence. SMegatron 13:22, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Alright, Ive now oved Timelines to its own section. Regards. SMegatron 17:12, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Pretender Armor and name origin
[edit]I don't see the comparison to Pretenders as being accurate. His armor isn't remotely controlled, and it's the same form as his robot form, only augmented. It's more like Ultra Magnus's armor/trailer.
As to saying Dreamwave contradicts the TV show because of the book of Primus being the origin of the name, this isn't REALLY a contradiction as the TV show doesn't say WHEN he changed his name to Megatron. Maybe he did it as he stole the disc. user:mathewignash
- That's true, I suppose. Although Dreamwave seemed to be pretty clearly implying that he took his name after reading about G1 Megatron, at least there is wiggle room to explain it. That said, though, Timelines IS an alternate to Dreamwave, though, because plenty of other characters refer to Megatron as "Megatron," when they could not have been there to hear him change his name while stealing the disc. Logically, he changed it earlier in Timelines, and with the presence of two people actually involved in the BW TV series in the comic's credits, I'd certainly take it over the DW version, which didn't even manage to draw the right disk in. :) - Chris McFeely 00:11, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Who called him Megatron before the name change? Looking at the plot, the 2 pages of Dreamwave fit in RIGHT before the Botcon comic start. The Maximals are surprised someone called himself "get his, MEGATRON" is stealing the disk. It's the first they heard of it. probably on a scanner nearby that picked up Megatron and Dinobot's discuession, or maybe that guard Dinobot clobered had an open transmitter channel? user:mathewignash
Hm. Like Chris says, there is wiggle room. There's nothing in Timelines to suggest that they aren't in the library they are in the Dreamwave version. Also, on closer inspection, in the scene on pg 4 where Megs is crowing about holding his destiny in his hands, there's a blasted Transformers lying facedown in the bottom right of the frame - possibly the one Dinobot scrapped in the Dreamwave version. Howver there are some elements that don't match up - why Megs isnt in his armour and where Scorponok is in the DW version, how Waspinator knows his new name is Megatron without being told in Timelines. Also, the bio at the back of the comic says that he took the name after going rogue from the Pred army. But until Bob Forward says that it is implicitly a different version, then I guess we can reconcile the two for now.SMegatron 11:04, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
As to the Pretender thing, I used that as a comparison as it was the first thing that came to mind when I originally put it in. Don't take it as gospel by any means.SMegatron 11:07, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Csmegatronii3.jpg
[edit]Image:Csmegatronii3.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:31, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Article title
[edit]I've changed the title back to "Megatron (Beast Era)" as I see no sense in acknowledging both titles here when no other article does this. Plus "Beast Era" sums it up very nicely. Sarujo (talk) 08:29, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
