MacEachern and MacEachainn

These are definitely different names (and families). The document referred to in this article states MacEachen = MacEachainn and MacEachern = MacEachairn, MacEacharna. Amceache (talk) 23:52, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Thanks also for putting this page up. Rev Dugald spelled his name McEchern. He said his father (Rev Charles) changed it to bring it closer to its Irish roots.I haven't seen the name spelled with an "eich" in the start too often at all. There is a clan, Clan Cowan whose old ancient name used to be MacEichgillycomgan, however "eich" is very old Irish Gaelic, so this seems to fit quite well.Amceache (talk) 10:09, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
