[edit]Need a more appropriate comparison - this was only transonic while the century series were all supersonic in level flight. - Leonard G. 15:35, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
More Wacky Wiki Facts
[edit]This article states: "The supersonic USAF F-101 Voodoo also retained much of the Demon's layout." Really? The F-101 was derived from the XF-88 (which truly looks like an anemic one-oh-wonder, something the Demon doesn't much even resemble) which first flew in 1948 (development beginning in 1946). Since development work on the Demon didn't begin until 1949 according to this fine article, it would have been a neat trick for the Voodoo to retain much of the layout of a design concept that succeded it. Sounds like original research, i.e., being polite for someone whose head is where the sun don't shine, to this long suffering Wiki reader. However, it is in keeping with the general scholarship one finds on Wiki (where it seems every aviation article is written or commandeered by folks who have little knowledge or understanding of American aviation) as well as a penchant for using spellings like programme, etc. if you get my drift. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.158.61.141 (talk) 19:54, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
