Contested deletion

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... I disagree that the article should be deleted, because it is of a company that has not been in business for more than 70 years, and as such does not self-promote. I understand that under A7 that some degree of importance needs to be specified, and to that I agree that the article, albeit, is very weak in describing it's historic roots in Canadian History in Oil, but the article is in it's birthing stage and needs time to evolve by more experienced contributors than myself. I did however state that Texas Corporation bought the majority shares, which ended McColl Frontenac and gave birth to Texaco in Canada. As McColl Frontenac was the precursor to Texaco in Canada, (which DOES have an article in Wikipedia), I find it conflicting that the article on McColl Frontenac is not allowed. As I am a young and new contributor, I agree I need to sharpen my editing skills, however, I understand that contributions are done by the community, not the individual. McColl Frontenac is a very significant company to Oil historians and collectors, and I personally found it a shame that an article doesn't exist. I can understand how a person that doesn't share an interest in Oil History in Canada is unable to understand the importance and significance, but that doesn't mean it actually wasn't. --Canuck422 (talk) 22:22, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
