[edit]Understanding of etnic background of region need to be proven by sources.without any source it can not be said that it was inhabitted by asyrriac people but with kurds.kurds have been living there since hurrians,as nomadic tribes with small number of villagers.city center can be defined as asyrriac but mazidag(shamrah-shamrex)region and villages was inhabited with different etnicities such as arabs, armenians and ofcourse kurds. Same generaling method is applied to any other kurdistan towns and cities such as mardin, midyat, siirt, savur, yesilli, omerli too. There is also significant number of people assimilated to another etnicities such as asyrians converted to islam and mixed up with arabs and kurds which created a new etnicity called mehellemies which arround 100 tousand people present in mardin province living.many kurds converted cristianity so that becoming asyrriac, same is arab criastians.etnic compund of region can not be originated only asyrriac.
