New section/changes

[edit]

I am planning to expand on this article and add a section that goes into more detail about her scientific contributions. Here is a rough outline of what I plan to add:

  • The role of enzymes in DNA and RNA synthesis - how her research helped decipher the genetic code
  • Briefly mention her research on chromatin structure, genetic recombination of viruses, and LINE sequences
  • Her involvement with science policy - served as co-chair of Gordon Conference, raised concerns about recombinant DNA technology, helped organize the Asilomar conference
  • Her role in creating science education programs for students
  • Her advocacy for women in science
  • Additional papers and books she has written

I may also reorganize the article with one section about her life and the other about scientific contributions. Let me know if there's any suggestions!
