October 2005

The sequel is never as good as the origional--NY101 16:37, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

Funny thing, I played Max Payne 2 first and thought Max Payne was nearly unplayable by comparison. And I can't imagine anyone saying the story isn't objectively better in in the sequel. 24.5.178.21 13:26, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Obviously, you have never played the Warcraft series. Chronolegion 14:06, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Will there be a third in the series?

Seemed like there would be for a while, but Remedy is working on Alan Wake now. I'm hopeful that it'll scratch the same itch. 68.8.21.7 19:32, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

I haven't played the second game, and one part of the plot confused me. Are there special circumstances around Max being shot in the head? Was it during one of his dreams? If not, he's a tough guy, being shot in the head and later saving the day O.o Lovok 14:08, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

He really was shot. As far as I know, how he survived wasn't dealt with explicitly. I assume it was just lucky circumstance. It happens. 70.95.220.131 03:46, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
I prefer the Second game. but talk pages are about things that will improve the article.

I prefer both in ways for separate reasons, but if I had to pick one it would be the second. As for surviving the gunshot to the head. He survived a triple OD of Valkyr in the first, and managed to keep fighting, never needing hospitalization, and did later get hospitalized from the gunshot, so it's pretty much established that he's a particularly versatile man. Status of Images

What would the status of the Black and White images be? What about the desktop icon? I've many to upload to stress on the styleaized gameplay. Please contact me on my talk page, thanks, Dfrg.msc User talk:Dfrg.msc 07:57, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Anything that shows he no longer had the constipated look from the first game is OK.

Easter Egg Issue

In Part 2, Chapter 1, there is a desk, where an officer and a suspect is talking. The crime is: the suspect killed his wife and the pizza delivery boy with a chainsaw and hid it in the bathroom. This is reference to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, because you can find a chainsaw in a bloody bathtub in an apartment. That seems pretty far fetched. MP2 takes place in NY while GTA:VC takes place in a Florida like state. It should be noted that the movie Scarface has a scene it it involving a bloody bathtub and a chainsaw which more likely than not was the inspiration for the rooms in VC and/or MP2 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bushido Brown (talkcontribs)

Scarface was the inspiration for both references; the Vice City reference is far more obvious, as both take place in Miami. However, it's somewhat possible that the MP2 dialogue is referencing VC, which, in turn, was referencing Scarface. -- Kicking222 19:30, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

For a newbie, I've made a huge edit...

I've edited the character summaries, placed the necessary minor characters under a header of their own, deleted the non-needed ones, such as "the cleaners", Vinnie's mobsters and such, placed the ending spoiler warning in the end of the "easter eggs" section, and deleted a few links: the ones to two mods, to the German patch (I found it neither on FilePlanet in the respective place, nor on the official website, so I've counted it to be unofficial and deleted it), to the Max Payne forums (which also seemed unofficial to me) and to the New York Minute records web page. I've left the link to "PayneReactor" because I felt it's the only good and functioning Max Payne fan site that was listed... I'm placing this "report" on the talk page because I want to know if I've done something wrong or not. So reply. I'll be watching this page. Litis 20:17, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

An unconnected point here, from a different author to the above. In the Plot Summary there is currently the line "which meant both that Mona Sax had been telling him the truth and that Max's killing of Winterson was justified." which strikes me as a rather huge moreal leap. As the point of whether killing is ever justified is in dispute, and likely will be for all the forseeable future might this be reworded to a more neuteral tone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.165.241.156 (talk) 16:01, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Easter Eggs?

I really don't think any of those count as Easter Eggs. They definitely help the article and many of them ARE useful to people trying to understand the plot. But I think we need to find a better category name than Easter Eggs, since those are mainly just features and details. Gundato 21:57, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

I agree. Thanks for alterring my mistaken edit too. Reverieuk 00:20, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Please merge any relevant content from Cleaners (Max Payne) per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cleaners (Max Payne) - second nom. (If there is nothing to merge, just leave it as a redirect.) Thanks. Quarl (talk) 2007-03-01 07:29Z

PS2 Control

Does anyone know how to use "Sniper Zoom" for Playstation 2 version? The guide I got was for the computer —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 142.179.30.11 (talk) 06:41, 5 March 2007 (UTC).

Removal of the "Chapters" list

I've removed the Chapters list because this, in no way, helps the article; this list has no use outside of "fandom," and I am quite confident that all who oppose its removal will have no other argument besides "I like it." I will continue to remove this list as much as allowed. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions03:15, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Mods

I don't see how you could remove the mods section from this page. It had real cites and everything necessary. I believe that the Mods section needs to be added again. Borat55 18:44, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Are the mods notable, and, if so, do the the references assert that? ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions19:05, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Characters

The removal of Ed the Janitor, Vinnie's Mobsters, Dick Justice, and John Mirra is completely unwarranted. The characters, with the exception of Ed, are extremely important. If one reads the information about them, one should be able to see how important the characters are to the game. John Mirra and Dick Justice give the game a satirical and psychological level. To remove them, is to remove key game elements. Also, when one claims that Vinnie's Mobsters is not an organization, that doesn't matter. Vinnie and his mobsters constitute a main part of the game: the war with Vlad that eventually leads Max to the bottom of the story. Although the game is not a "game guide," the game is supposed to delve into the deeper aspects of the game. When one removes the satirical and psychological elements added by Dick Justice and John Mirra, one defeats the whole purpose of Wikipedia. Borat55 00:23, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Could you provide some sources commenting on the psychological elements. I removed the mods section, but I suggest if you really feel that it's necessary that it focusses on notable mods such as the one which replaces Payne's face with Sam Lake's. Articles need not go into too much depth, usually a sentence or 2 on minor parts of the topic is enough. Also, I've noticed you've reverted 4 times in a 24 hour period, I suggest you read WP:3RR before you get yourself blocked. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 18:29, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Also, everything about what you said about the "psychological and satirical level," and basically everything else, is original research; click the link for more information. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions03:54, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Response section

This article really needs a response/criticism/reviews section just to show how well it is received. It's notable that the game was not hugely successful after Max Payne sold well (I believe it received a Silver Star award for sales from some company). I'll start hunting down reviews and sales figures soon. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 18:29, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Plot

Why was the "Plot" section removed? Editors are totally ruining this page. Borat55 02:50, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

The plot section?? Ooooooh, you mean the plot section that still exists in the page that you didn't see for some reason? ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions03:49, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Also, about the page "being ruined," like I said, Wikipedia is not a game guide; those edits were carried out under the WP:NOT policy. Now, with that said, give me 2 good reasons for why the removed edits should have stayed. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions03:50, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
oh, I'm stupid. Dude, I was looking at the page and saw the blank section directly under the word "plot" and thought that it had been deleted. No need to be a dick. Borat55 02:43, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
I can see the problem here, IE lays out the page differently to Firefox, it seems to be starting the content for the plot section after the video game box on the right. Firefox is laying out the page how it should be, with the content displaying right under the heading. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 23:25, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
I see, thanks

Borat55 02:43, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

To tell you the truth, I wasn't trying to be a dick; I was really trying to show you that it was still there. I've made the same mistake before, so I understand. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions23:26, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
