Birthdate

[edit]

I missed this when I did my NPP review of the article, but BLP policy (see specifically WP:DOB) suggests caution in general about birth dates let alone uncited ones (which falls under other elements of BLP which supports removal). As such I have removed it. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 19:50, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I get that, but for authors of creative works, date of birth is very important because it's used to disambiguate authors of the same name in pretty much every library catalog. It's also used to determine copyright terms of works. Every author database includes at least his year of birth, and the most major catalog includes his full date of birth. [1][2][3]. (He's also publicly posted himself on both his author maintained goodreads[4] and facebook[5] profiles.) I will restore with a citation to the library catalog instead of his goodreads/facebook self-post, which apparently annoyed someone else (although self-published information is allowed when the source is something trivial like birth date.)
