Isla Isla
[edit]Is there a reason for his double surname? Were his aprents already close relatives, or did he double one parent's name due to the other being absent? Is this common in Spanish-speaking countries?--MartinUK (talk) 21:59, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe it's too late to answer, but whatever. At least in Chile, when the father is absent, the newborn child usually gets his mother's surname as both paternal and maternal surnames. That's Isla's case. He met his biological father later, however he never switched his surname to his father's. 201.239.157.92 (talk) 17:14, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. Always used to call him 'Boutros Boutros' when I had him in my Football Manager team, although curiously in that he was a central midfielder and nothing else - very good as a box-to-box player IIRC.--MartinUK (talk) 11:43, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

[edit]There's been a pile of messing about on this article in the last couple of days - so I reverted to the last-good version, and put a week of autoconfirmed on it under WP:BLP - David Gerard (talk) 12:24, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
