'Multiple issues' tags
[edit]I came upon the article just because I was citing an article the subject had written and ultimately linked it to this article. Having cited it, I stuck around to do a good deal of cleanup/upgrade-type work with footnotes and such on this article; in so doing, I noticed the Multiple issues tags and removed them. I couldn't say I'd reviewed the policies behind the tags closely, but I'd skimmed the box and didn't feel like the article deserved to carry it.
I planned then to come here to justify the removal of the tags. However, as I've written about the page, I've realized I can't say I confirmed that all the different pen names -- Matt, Matthew and a third James-something -- are the same individual. Even the jump I made to call the new MarketWatch columnist (that's where I was coming from, two edits) the same as the "others" here was not absolutely confirmed. I relied on "there wouldn't be two Matthew Lynns" in such a narrow area (business, British) of journalism/commentary. And I can't say I feel great as I'm laying this all out here, but I've done as much as I can now and think that my work is solid, on its own. But I'm going to replace the Multiple issues tags on the page. I think I can live with the uncertainties within the article for now, under cover of the tags. And I will try to, and I hope others will, keep working on the article. I'd say I would be ready to remove all the tags (again, finally) in a matter of time.
Further thoughts of course welcome. Cheers. Swliv (talk) 01:15, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
- In case I raised too many doubts above, I can say that the picture at the blog and the one at MarketWatch appear to be of the same individual, though unfortunately the blog does not sort all the names/venues out. ... For now. Swliv (talk) 02:28, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
