'Cracking'
[edit]I'm not sure 'a cracking cover drive' is entirely objective. It was, after all, a full toss from Brett Lee. Shouldn't this be changed to something a bit more neutral such as a 'rare' or 'well-executed' cover drive? JP 19:00, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, feel free to change it. Stephen Turner (Talk) 20:48, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
For a batsman of his standard, and considering the high pressure situation, and against a guy bowling at 90 mph + it was a cracking cover drive.
- It's all POV, I have just changed it to "a cover drive". In the long run I doubt it is too significant. SGGH speak! 17:06, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Swing
[edit]Sorry but this quote is just utter rubbish "If, due to pitch or atmospheric conditions, the new ball does not swing he can be ineffective." Hoggard has shown on the subcontinent that he can take wickets without tons of swing, you don't become one of the best bowlers in the world by being one dimensional. UncleTheOne
It's not entirely rubbish, it's just out of date. It would have been accurate to say that about him a few years ago, but he has proved with his performances in the subcontinent and australia that he can take wickets in any conditions (the section that mentions his 7/109 in Adelaide hints at this). Perhaps it could be modified to reflect his improvement in this aspect of his bowling.

New BBC article
[edit]Various things in this article that might be useable, in particular Hoggard's anger at the way he was treated after being dropped by England and some off-field stuff. Loganberry (Talk) 22:51, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
