Matt Finish edits, May 2012

[edit]

Back in April 2012 I made a number of edits to Matt Finish see here. In the following month User:Onedaysoon deleted much of this material in two edits: 1 and 2. The user provided the edit summary Revert to previous version before Shaidar cuebiyar edited. Note: if he edits this page again, report and request ban from contributing.

I see no justification for these edits on this talkpage. I edited Matt Finish today and noticed the wholesale removal of my work without any clear explanation. Note that the threat if he edits this page again, report and request ban from contributing constitutes a form of harassment. Could User:Onedaysoon provide a reasoned discussion for the above removals of my material from Matt Finish on this talkpage? I have placed a request on the user's talkpage to do so.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:26, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Its now over five months since I made the above request. User:Onedaysoon has not explained the earlier deletion of material from this article nor threats made against me. I have returned much of the material which had been deleted. I may have inadvertently deleted material from other editors for which I apologise.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:24, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see anything objectionable about the material you've reinstated. The article provides fairly comprehensive coverage of the band and its history, but the breakout articles for the albums could certainly do with some work to add detail, bring them into Wikipedia style and add some sourcing to ensure they don't get deleted. User:Onedaysoon seems to have ceased editing at Wikipedia. BlackCab (talk) 05:12, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your comments. I'm not sure of User:Onedaysoon's status: there are often long gaps between editing phases and may be on hiatus. As for the album articles I'm busy tidying up others and may not get to them for quite some time.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 23:37, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have some of them. I should do it myself. BlackCab (talk) 23:46, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

May 2014 edits

[edit]

An anonymous editor, User:124.168.135.49, removed/replaced much of the material in this article in mid-May, returning it to a similar form as the above edits. See article history. These are the only four edits by this account. I reverted them, and other edits, to a version I believe to be acceptable. Once again I apologise if I've inadvertently removed material by other editors which may have improved the article.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 19:18, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment

Re article rating:

The article references several sources, and there is coverage of a variety of critical responses. Since the band is reforming, the band seems to be part of the current music scene.

Re-assessment

I'd like to see an infobox, a reduction in unnecessary Bolded band members, move Line-ups section below main text sections. A photo will help. The article is not Matt Moffit's biography (although he is an important band member). Importance of the band has not been established beyond Low on current information. I have recently contributed to this article and so may be biased.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:25, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re-assessment

I've added an infobox, reduced unnecessary Bolding, move Line-ups section to below main text and added some references. Although this is not Matt Moffitt's biography I have added some biographical details for any editor to extract for such an article. This article still needs more in-line references for many statements: it could move towards B-class with more of these. I have recently contributed to this article and so may be biased.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:15, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

September 2021 restoration of deleted material

[edit]

I have returned material deleted by @14.200.107.11: in September 2021. This includes similar content, which was deleted, in 2012 by @Onedaysoon:, in 2014 by @124.168.135.49: and in 2018 by @106.69.205.163:. Could you please discuss these issues here to reach a consensus?shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:31, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am Onedaysoon. I formed the band Matt Finnish in 1989 and started this page about my band. Someone keeps editing this page incorrectly adding unverifiable data regarding a different band called Matt Finnish. Please stop changing this page.

Comment: the above statement was added by @14.200.107.11: on 9 September 2021 per diff.
Reply: you claim to be User:Onedaysoon and to have started this WP article. You also claim to have formed Matt Finnish [sic] in 1989. Neither of these establishes your ownership of content. Other editors have as much right to add/modify content as you. Where disputes arise between editors they should discuss their issues and so try to reach a consensus. You have not made any such attempt. If you read this talk page you can see that I have attempted to do so since May 2012.
According to earlier content: Matt Finnish were started in 1988 by Matt Moffitt, Brian Alcorn and Tony Georgeson. Matt Finish were started by Moffitt, Alcorn and John Prior.
This article was started in July 2006 by User:Breto not User:Onedaysoon. The latter's first edit at this article was in April 2009 (see here).
If you are/were a member of Matt Finish then you should have declared your Conflict of Interest when you edited this (and related) articles. That's at least 12 years ago.
Your recent edit summaries claim "minor edit" or "minor" when clearly the content being added has previously been disputed. These are not minor edits and using that terminology is deceptive.
User:Onedaysoon threatened me with "if he edits this page again, report and request ban from contributing" back in April 2012.
User:14.200.107.11 wrote "Restoring page from hacks referring to unverifiable Matt Finnish (different to Matt Finish, maybe warrants its own page but not relevant here)." in their edit summary, yesterday. How is this conducive to a rational discussion of the issues you have with this article? I object to my edits being referred to as hacks.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:06, 10 September 2021 (UTC)04:25, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've waited a reasonable time for a response from the above editor(s) but none has been provided. I will now revert the article to its earlier form.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:07, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
