Hello, I'm GhostRiver. I'll be reviewing this article against the good article criteria. By doing so, I am earning points for the WikiCup and the January 2025 GAN Backlog Drive. Although a quid pro quo review is not necessary, it is appreciated. You can see what open good article nominations I have here.

I will go through the article section by section checking it against the criteria. Once I have finished my review, I will place the article on hold, giving you seven days to respond. If you need more time, just reach out! While I'll always put the article on hold once it's ready for you to look at, you may start making changes before I complete my review. — GhostRiver 21:05, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox and lede

[edit]
  • who played three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) between 2021 and 2023. (or something along those lines)  Done
  • WL receiving yards  Done
  • Don't think his CBB career needs to go in the lede, considering it was only one year and not a Bo Jackson or even Tim Tebow situation  Done
  • and appeared in one game asappearing in one game as  Done

Early life

[edit]
  • Anything on why he moved from IL to AZ?
I can't figure out why he was born in IL but it appears he actually grew up in Louisiana. Added details. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:22, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

College career

[edit]
  • Feels like spending three years as a Mormon missionary should be a bigger deal
I can't find anything else other than when it happened. This source says 55 BYU football players on the 2024 roster had served missions. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:24, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rather than using a direct quote for the one word standout, something along the lines of "His performance during spring practice impressed local media" (if you can get a coach quote, even better)
Added. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:00, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • That's a lot of responsibility for a true freshman. Any media about how he took on such a role?
Clarified I think. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:15, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • When was his solo tackle?
I just went ahead and removed the tackles. They're not really notable. They probably just happened on turnovers. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 00:33, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • for the John Mackey Award and also the Walter Camp Awardfor both the John Mackey Award and the Walter Camp Award  Done
  • Who was the other tight end watchlisted?  Done
  • named to the Phil Steele All-Independent first team for the second consecutive season  Done
  • Again, details on the one assisted tackle?
See comment above. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 00:33, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Would like some information on what he did during the 2020 season while he was injured to keep sharp for a pro career.
Added. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 03:42, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • His major can go in the personal life section.  Done
  • He also played college baseball for the BYU Cougars baseball team in 2017 but only appeared in one game, striking out as a pinch hitter in his only at-bat and then spending time in the outfield. This sentence can probably be broken into two and given more detail (e.g. what outfield position?)  Done

Professional career

[edit]
  • Would include a brief paragraph of his pre-draft - he was one of how many BYU players invited? Did he talk to any teams? Did he expect to be drafted?
Added. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 03:21, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Include years for both the Raiders and Chiefs subheads  Done

Las Vegas Raiders

[edit]
  • going undraftedgoing unselected to vary wording  Done
  • Link "waived" to Waivers (NFL)  Done
  • Use "promoted" instead of "elevated" for one of the two instances to vary wording  Done

Kansas City Chiefs

[edit]
  • On January 4, 2022, Bushman was signed to the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs awkward passive voice
Fixed I think. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 23:58, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Bushman suffered a fractured clavicle either change to active voice (Bushman fractured his clavicle) or swap "suffered" to "sustained" to break up close paraphrasing  Done
  • No comma needed after August 30  Done
  • After clearing waivers, he was placed on the Chiefs' injured reserve on August 31.He cleared waivers and was placed on the Chiefs' injured reserve the next day.  Done
  • Being nitpicky - nothing in reference [32] says that Bushman was a Super Bowl champion, only that KC won. Same with [39].  Done
  • was waived by the Chiefs and re-signed to the practice squad mixed passive/active voice
Fixed I think? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 00:05, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • it was reported that Bushman per source, Bushman reported this himself on a podcast. Change wording so it doesn't sound like hearsay from a third party  Done

Personal life

[edit]
  • Instead of linking to the sport volleyball, link "BYU volleyball" to BYU Cougars women's volleyball  Done
  • Also, presumably she is not still in college and is thus a former BYU volleyball player  Done
  • Also note that, as of 2024, they have two children and one on the way  Done
  • Why is his mom the only athlete in the family who isn't named? (in his BYU bio, it's Shannon)  Done
  • I think you can paraphrase the purpose of his charitable foundation  Done
[edit]
  • VanquishTheFoe.com is considered WP:GUNREL as an SB Nation site, by consensus. Same with, obviously, SB Nation as a whole [29]. Yeah, I don't super agree with it either.  Done
I don't see SB Nation on there? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 04:29, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • While the sources used for player movement (sign/release/practice squad/active roster) are reliable, they are a little dry. I'd like a little more of the whys if they can be found - why did the Raiders take him? Why was he released when he was? If you can't find those, no big deal, but that would elevate the article for me.
Added. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 04:46, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

General comments

[edit]
  • No stability concerns, nominator is a major contributor
  • No photos, criterion 6 does not apply
  • Close paraphrasing addressed above, no major copyvio concerns
  • Although not strictly necessary, I'm wondering why there aren't statistics included for his college and pro career
He doesn't really have any pro stats. Just three games played. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 23:46, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@GhostRiver: I think that's everything. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 04:47, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the edits! I realize I asked you to add quite a bit. Went through and fixed a couple MOS issues (curly brackets and a missing comma). Passing now. — GhostRiver 17:25, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
