Title of the law
[edit]The Massachusetts statute itself provides no title for this law. The title used by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court is the “Comprehensive Permit Act.” Town of Hingham v. Dept. of Housing and Community Development, 451 Mass. 501, 502 (2008). It is “sometimes referred to as the anti-snob zoning act.” Zoning Board of Appeals of Wellesley v. Ardemore Apts. Ltd. Partnership, 436 Mass. 811, 814 (2002). The agency charged with its enforcement, the Housing Appeals Committee, refers to if as the “Comprehensive Permit Law.” See, e.g., West Wrentham Village, LLC v. Wrentham, No. 05-4 slip op. at 2 (Mass. Housing Appeals Committee Jul. 13, 2005). Although “snob zoning” was frequently discussed when the law was enacted in 1969, today, because of greater acceptance of affordable housing in most Massachusetts communities, the term “anti-snob zoning act” is outdated and not widely used. In fact, the term commonly used by the public is simply “Chapter 40B,” and the reference to “snob-zoning” is most frequently made pejoratively by opponents of the law.
While the “Comprehensive Permit Act” seems most descriptive, "Chapter 40B" is equally neutral, and is more commonly understood by the general public.
The introductory phrase generally follows the wikipedia format used on the page for the Voting Rights Act. WLohe (talk) 21:17, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Opposition section lacks sources
[edit]The entire section titled "Opposition" does not have a single source. Given that it makes fairly broad claims, this strikes me as a significant flaw in the article's reliability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.145.85.49 (talk) 22:01, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
