Nothing about humanitarian aspects
[edit]I would want to add please :
- "Human Rights Watch on Monday said Israeli strikes near the main Lebanon-Syria border crossing were putting civilians at "grave risk" as they prevented them from fleeing and hampered humanitarian operations" ; ""An Israeli attack on a legitimate military target may still be unlawful if it can be expected to cause immediate civilian harm disproportionate to the anticipated military gain," it said in a statement." https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20241007-hrw-israeli-strikes-endanger-civilians-on-lebanon-syria-border.
- "Rula Amin, a spokesperson for the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, voiced concern over the damage to the crossings, calling them “a main lifeline for people escaping the conflict.”"https://apnews.com/article/lebanon-syria-israel-border-crossing-qusayr-hezbollah-051cf8de4bf5bb5a9448e562ec06fb19
- "In late September, an Israeli airstrike hit the border crossing of Matraba in Lebanon’s northeast, forcing it to close. A few weeks later came a strike on Masnaa, the main crossing between the two countries, putting it out of service. The Jousieh crossing was struck on 25 October" ; " humanitarian officials say that the closure of the crossings have intensified an already severe humanitarian crisis by blocking key routes for supplies and impeding access for those fleeing to safety." https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/destruction-lebanon-syria-border-crossings-israeli-airstrikes-creates-115197865

Please change "The strike rendered the road impassable to cars, though it was still traversable on foot.[6]" in :
«The strike rendered the road impassable to cars, though it was still traversable on foot.[6]
According to Human Rights Watch, Israeli strikes "prevent civilians from fleeing and hamper humanitarian operations" ; the NGO stresses the fact that "an Israeli attack on a legitimate military target may still be unlawful if it can be expected to cause immediate civilian harm disproportionate to the anticipated military gain".[1]
Several border crossings between Lebanon and Syria have been closed after being bombed by the Israeli air force : Matraba in Lebanon’s northeast, in late September ; Masnaa on 4 October ; Qaa-Jousieh on 25 October. According to humanitarian officials, "the closure of the crossings have intensified an already severe humanitarian crisis by blocking key routes for supplies and impeding access for those fleeing to safety."[2][3]»

Not done Your propsed edit seems properly sourced, but it also seems like it is about the effects if Israeli airstrikes on crossings in general. I think this edit could be made, but I'm not convinced it should be in this article, seems more suited to an article like Humanitarian aid during the Israel–Hamas war with a link leading back here. - @Just Step Sideways: This is not the Israel Hamas war. These events are happening in Lebanon. The Masnaa border crossing is clearly indicated among the targeted border crossings.
You ask me on your page why I am addressing you by name. The reason: I have been waiting for 2 weeks. Is this normal? Who should I contact? Could you point someone out? --JMGuyon (talk) 14:20, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- I had not realized that WP is treating Israel-vs-Hezzbollah as a seperate comflict from Israel-vs-Hamas, that's how much I generally stay away from content in this topic area. My point stands that your edit seems like it is more general and should probably be in some other article. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 19:57, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Just Step Sideways: could you please answer my question: what do you usually do when you ask to edit a protected article and no one answers? How come I have to go and randomly ask administrators, with the high risk of coming across administrators who are not interested in the subject?
who should I contact, since you are not very familiar with the subject? I insist on the fact that Masnaa is indeed mentioned in the source.---JMGuyon (talk) 23:13, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
