General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: Yes
  • Interesting: No - n
  • Other problems: No - See below in comments.
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Sources check out. No copyright vios. Waiting on possible QPQ (unsure at the moment whether nominator still falls below the 5 DYK threshold). Citation for ALT0 also needs to be included in this nomination. However, the hook's meaning is a little unclear to a reader unfamiliar with Jōmon history or pottery. Are additional ALTs possible? —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 22:02, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the QPQ is above, the hook is doubly cited, and dogū is both linked and illustrated; thank you, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 22:11, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maculosae tegmine lyncis Thanks for the reply and pointing me to the QPQ. I meant that the hook needs to be cited here in the nomination as well, according to WP:DYKHOOK, but the citations in the article are the key, so I'll drop my nitpicky point. However, I still think that ALT0 might go over the heads of a lot of people. Although I'm familiar with Jōmon history, I have no idea about pottery; initially, I had believed "exploding during firing" referred to its possible use as some kind of weapon. Which is why I think it would not be a bad idea to offer at least one or two more ALTs as potential alternatives. —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 22:30, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ALT1: that the Masked Goddess (pictured) is a National Treasure of Japan?

(repeat of citation as requested: [1]), thank you, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 04:54, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! You're all set. I'll leave it to other editors to chose which ALT would be the best fit for the front page. —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 05:57, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
