History of accidents
[edit]Is this article complete without a mention of the road's reputation for serious car accidents? The explanation given for MDSHA's improvements is particularly curious. Are not the proposed improvements for safety reasons as much as for the convenience of beachgoers? Future2008 (talk) 02:15, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

MD 404V not in the list
[edit]I noticed MD 404 V is not in the list. Any research on that appreciated. Eplack (talk) 22:21, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- I actually did some research on this myself a few years ago and forgot that I did so. MD 404V is Twin Ponds Lane which runs south and parallel to MD 404. Here's a map link. SHA built this road to disconnect driveways from several homes that used to directly front onto MD 404. This was done as an effort to reduce grade intersections and to be able to accommodate roadside assets such as signage, traffic barrier, and drainage. The SHA Route ID for this roadway is
20000MD00404V-1-----
. - A brief timeline:
- SHA bought the entire property at 13975 Twin Ponds Ln: District - 04 Account Number – 156633
- SHA acquired land for this cul-de-sac from 13971 Twin Ponds Ln via two SHA Plats: 60296 and 60419, as mentioned in Talbot Co deed MAS 2393, pp. 0226-0231
- The second SHA Plat 60419 shows the cul-de-sac, but it is missing from the state archives.
