The Mont Blanc Expedition

[edit]

Reading the chapter 'Ascent of Mont Blanc' in 'Swiss Notes by five ladies' as available on google books, the ascent was accomplished by three of them, with two guides. Their plan was to go up to Grands Mulets at 3000m but on the way they met a Spanish lady who had been to the summit, & were inspired to attempt it themselves. (It is an interesting account & quite amusing as they describe the sunburn remedies they were offered, & the congratulations they received, and the comments at the Bureau des Guides, where they got Certificates, signed by their guides). The lady they call the Frau Mutter, who I guess is Mary Taylor, appears not to have made the ascent. The three who went up to Grand Mulets sent word down to her, asking if it was ok to climb to the top. Putting this here because the source contradicts the narrative but I dont have time to research fully atm. Mattymmoo (talk) 20:24, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
