Dubious

[edit]

Currently the wording taken from the DNB states "also fulfilled the duties of organist at the church of St Gregory Old Fish Street". This needs checking because it is not supported the the current articles on London Churches.

There is no article on St Gregory Old Fish Street but there is an article on St Gregory by St Paul's and St Mary Magdalen Old Fish Street which are tied together (according to the article St Gregory by St Paul's):

St Gregory's by St Paul's was a parish church in the Castle Baynard ward of the City of London. It was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666 and not replaced. It was built against the walls of St Paul's Cathedral. ....The church and the cathedral were destroyed by the Great Fire of 1666. The church was not rebuilt; the parish was instead united with that of St Mary Magdalen Old Fish Street.

Given the DOD of Mary Hudson she was organist during the time of St Mary Magdalen Old Fish Street which was united with the parish of St Gregory by St Paul's so it is probable that the physical structure was St Mary Magdalen Old Fish Street although the administrative structure (which parish paid her) could have been St Gregory Old Fish Street.

Does anyone have a source based explanation, or know more about it than is mentioned in the three articles? For example was there another church that is not mentioned on Wikipedia called St Gregory Old Fish Street? -- PBS (talk) 09:10, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Revision Revision as of 13:42, 29 August 2011 by 86.147.166.13 (talk · contribs), to the article St Mary Magdalen Old Fish Street added Mary Hudson as an organist at the church, but unfortunately 86.147.166.13 did not include a source. -- PBS (talk) 09:19, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have found a source that give the church as St Mary Magdalen Old Fish Street. So I will change the text. -- PBS (talk) 09:38, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
