Is she notable or not?

I looked this entry up having just heard the person in question being interviewed by John Humphries on BBC Radio 4. The article itself obviously needs a great deal of work to make it conform to Wikipedia standards with appropriate secondary references etc., having clearly been written in the style of a promotional piece. However, that is nothing to do with whether this girl is notable and therefore a suitable subject for an article or not. Having just re-read the guidelines on notability, it is my view that she probably qualifies on two grounds. Firstly what she has done in winning the Chinese version of X Factor as an Englishwoman would seem to be sufficiently unusual enough to merit being classed as notable. Secondly winning this competition itself would seem to qualify her under the biographical guidelines as having won a significant award.

The concern here is that she is notable for only a single event which is a problem under wikipedia's notability guidelines. There is also a lack of significant coverage. Not much beyond the BBC interview.--RadioFan (talk) 14:37, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

She won singing contest in China with 70m viewers and new album is coming out very soon. So she means nothing ? --209.237.253.79 (talk) 09:27, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The talent contest was on provincial TV and was not a Chinese equivalent of X Factor, more a local TV show — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.216.104.27 (talk) 19:56, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

She has been on many more shows than this. i.e. She has completed a UK wide tour with Russell Watson as his support act. Playing the Albert Hall at age 21. [1] She has been interviewed not only on BBC Breakfast, but also on various UK TV/Radio stations around the country on a promo tour. [2] Her single "Are You the Way Home?" is out now, and her debut album (on Decca - Universal) is out on the 8th Aug 2011. She was Universals biggest signing of 2010.

This article will improve over the next few months as her UK career takes off. She's already notable in China, 70 million people can't be wrong. 86.24.80.150 (talk) 21:17, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Her song "Stand As One" was/is also played as a background theme song for a "P&G - Proud Sponsor of Mums TV advert" (If you haven't seen the TV commercial you can find it on YouTube. I've seen it a few times on TV lately.)
You can also see various concert events and songs by her on YouTube as well.
