Merge

[edit]

Rather than have separate pages for X-Men, Spider-Man and Avengers Fairy Tales, why not have one page for all? I'm probably going to do a page move unless someone feels strongly otherwise. Jayunderscorezero 02:51, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seems perfectly reasonable. Be Bold. - JasonAQuest (talk) 04:22, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just to make this clear, I have indeed decided to be bold and merge the two. If I may, I'd like to call this discussion closed. Indidentally, below is the text from the talk page of X-Men Fairy Tales on the same subject. Now, can anyone remind me how to delete a page that has been merged into a larger one?--Jayunderscorezero (talk) 10:41, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge X-Men Fairy Tales and Marvel Fairy Tales

[edit]

Why not simply include all of this information in the page for Marvel Fairy Tales in the X-Men Fairy Tales subsection? The need for an entirely separate page that largely repeats information from the MFT page is completely beyond me.--Jayunderscorezero 20:21, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I created this page. I saw it in the list of "requested" articles, so I created it as a new article. However, I am unsure I agree with the merge, perhaps. Can you explain to me one thing. If someone requests and article, does that not mean it's an article that need's to be created. I don't want to waste my time in the future if I create requested articles just for them to be removed and/or merged. Please leave feedback regarding this, then we can discuss the merge. I am just wondering about that one thing. Because I created a few "requested" articles before. I am just paranoid now that every new one I create that is listed under requested will end up being merged or deleted. I have this page watched as I originally created it, so I will see anything you leave here. I will respond asap when I see your message here.businessman332211 21:10, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also keep in mind I intend to heavily modify this page later. I plan on making it bigger, and with more data. I wouldn't oppose to a merge, I just want to find out about the paranoid question I had above. businessman332211 21:11, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late reply (thoughtlessly forgot to actually watch this page). As far as I'm aware, 'requested' simply means that there is a dead-end link (a red link) from some other page, though I may be wrong. If I had discovered a page linking to 'X-Men Fairy Tales', I would have responded differently, editing the link to make it redirect to Marvel Fairy Tales. I'm now in two minds regarding the merge, however. On the one hand, a lot of the information here (creators, plot details, etc.) can be found on the Marvel Fairy Tales page, and so I don't really see the need for a separate page that simply repeats all of this information. On the other hand, another way to resolve this problem of repeated information would be to remove the info on X-MFT from the main MFT page, with only skeleton information and info regarding the several different Marvel Fairy Tales series at that page. However, that would then lead logically to creating separate pages like this one for both Spider-Man and Avengers Fairy Tales as well, and I'm not sure we really need four different pages covering a handful of very closely tied-together subjects. Ultimately though, I still think that the simplest solution would be to add the information on this page to the main MFT page and delete this page. --Jayunderscorezero 18:27, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm fairly neutral on the issue. I can see a good arguement being made for allowing the various stories within the Marvel Fairy Tales concept their own entries. However, as this stands it fails WP:FICT as it is nearly 100% plot. What it needs are reviews, analysis, etc. adding the real-world impact angle and interviews would help flesh things out with the creator's perspective. If those can be provided then I'd be inclined to leave it be otherwise it needs merging (and if those things can be found and the section grow large and unweildy then possibly split it off). (Emperor 18:51, 4 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Ok the merge doesn't sound like a bad idea. THen I can just rewrite the "fiction" sounding parts.

I am having a REAL hard time understanding WP:FICT. That is like the only policy/guideline I am having trouble understanding. The NPOV policy I broke a lot at first because I didn't understand. I finally get it, but not the fictional one. It makes me feel as fictional pages shouldn't even be created, can you explain to me how to write a fictional based articles where it will successfully pass wp:fict?, aside from that I am ok with the merge. If I ever find enough info to build the article big enough we can branch it again as you suggested. businessman332211 23:25, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is a tricky one (and a bit of a pain) - what I try and keep in mind is the real world impact aspect. The bottom line is an entry can't just be WP:PLOT - you need to mix in information about how it was created, sales figures, reviews and analysis. If you can find it press coverage outside the comic world is a really good one. So, for example, here what would really be good is something from Cebulski on which fairy tales he used and why. I'll keep an eye out for things. (Emperor 23:56, 4 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]
I think I understand what you mean. because there was a list of warcraft characters up for deletion (really huge article with lot's of information) and it was up for deletion. We were able to keep it because of us mentioning (it can be rewritten). However I had no idea how to. Based on some of your suggestions, I am going to try. I have a basic idea of what you mean now. So I can have a decent description of the plot's, characters, and everything else. I just need to mix in the social impact, research, and everything else.. Ok, I understand a lot more, thanks. businessman332211 01:42, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That kind of thing (although on the specific example lists of characters are usually preferred to a lot of smaller non-articles - they just need proper sourcing). Anyway here is an interview which should prove useful:
Have a nose around and you should be able to turn up more interviews as well as news like [1], [2], [3]. Hope that helps. (Emperor 02:57, 5 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]
Oh, thanks, I am working on rewritting parts of the article now. Also adding new things in it. I think I also understand WP:fict, but I am still wondering how to rewrite lists of characters (articles just dedicated to the lists of characters) into policy. Thanks for all the feedback, and thanks for the links. businessman332211 14:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Marvel Fairy Tales article barely qualifies as notable as a whole. This article should be merged into that. - JasonAQuest (talk) 04:25, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:X-Men Fairy Tales.jpg

[edit]

Image:X-Men Fairy Tales.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The Return of Marvel Fairy Tales

[edit]

I just found out that, back in February of 2022, Marvel decided to bring back the Marvel Fairy Tales as an exclusive to the Marvel Unlimited app! https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/marvel-fairy-tales-infinity-series-first-look 94-kun (talk) 12:18, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
