AKA "Dolphin Striker"
Not so. The "Dolphin Striker" is the spreader that gives a better purchase angle to the martingale. The martingale is the chain or cable that runs from the end of the bowsprit to the stem at the forefoot. As a crucial part of the standing rigging, this supports the tension on the forstay.

first paragraph
[edit]the sentence here has to be somehow fixed. I don't know enough about this to fix it without removing possibly sensitive information. 129.240.215.211 (talk) 11:27, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
What am I looking at?
[edit]It's nice that this article has a picture, but I have no idea what in the picture is the Martingale, even after reading the description in the article. (I doubt that any verbal description could be detailed enough to explain which thing in the picture is the Martingale — it probably will need to be highlighted visually somehow, or perhaps "cut out" of the full picture and shown separately in a second image). - dcljr (talk) 21:37, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- I've found no better image:(. The best option would be a sketch, showing items in color. Volunteer to make wanted!. Ciacho5 (talk) 16:10, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
