[edit]This article says Multics was developed in BCPL, whereas the Multics article says PL/1 and assembly. Which is correct? Loop west (talk) 10:30, 21 May 2010 (UTC) Jonathan
- Multics Release 12.7 contains 62 source files in BCPL and 6816 source files in PL/1.
- Of the BCPL files, the majority seem to be BCPL bindings for MULTICS system services.
- The remainder seems to be the RUNOFF implementation. RUNOFF was created on CTSS (and hence predates BCPL), was inplemented on MULTICS initially in PL/1 and was later translated to BCPL, though I don't know when (this information from the roff(7) manual page).
