Dear All,

I have removed the internal link to the This Life wiki page under the This Life subsection. That wiki page is currently under notice (POV) and the link was misplaced (the first reference to the book should contain the hyperlink). Until the dispute is resolved, I think it makes sense to not have the internal link. Jts6489 (talk) 01:41, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest: could Jts6489 be Martin Hägglund himself?

[edit]

I have found much of Martin Hägglund’s writing stimulating and refreshing. Therefore, I am somewhat disappointed in finding out that this entry is probably written almost entirely by Hägglund himself. I first noticed that the Swedish entry to Martin Hägglund had been rewritten with over 59 contributions by the user Jts6489. That entry included numerous statements like Hägglund being ”regarded as the most important young philosopher in the USA” and a ”writer of the New York Times” (many of them have now been removed).

Then I noticed that Jts6489 had made 25 contributions here including exclusively positive reviews in External links and less encyclopaedic information about prizes and fellowships. Jts6489 also temporally removed the linking to This life until he (I am quite sure I know his gender) had removed the criticism and rewritten that entry with over 20 contributions. When I looked at the other contributions to this page, I saw that the most eager contributors had only written about Martin Hägglund and nothing else. These include:

I believe this case is even worse than for example Pete Buttigieg (see https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/12/pete-buttigieg-wikipedia-page-editor.amp) and a reminder of why we need to be more alert to COI editing if we want to avoid Wikipedia being used as an advertising space.--Inge Källgård (talk) 11:36, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
