Fearing Crime, Japanese Wear the Hiding Place

[edit]

In the Oct 20 2007 New York Times Fackler had an article about a woman who had a dress which looked like a vending machine, which she could change into if she should feel threatened by a potential assailant. "Though street crime is relatively low in Japan, quirky camouflage designs like this vending-machine dress are being offered to an increasingly anxious public to hide from would-be assailants." In fact the woman, Aya Tsukioka, was a "modern artist" and the story is basically a hoax. It still sits on the NYT website. 240D:1E:1D:D200:B1D7:CD2C:EA83:1411 (talk) 10:13, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
