Yes, according to German Wikipedia de:Martin J. Aitken, one of the inventors, from the 1960s: "Er gilt (Anfang der 1960er Jahre) als einer der Erfinder der Thermolumineszenzdatierung".
He is M.J. (Martin Jim) Aitken in the US Library of Congress (now footer link LC Authorities) and DE.wiki also gives full name Martin Jim Aitken. I put that info in the lead without a formal reference.
Apart from being a part of thermoluminescence dating he (as the editor of Archaeometry, the standard for archaeometric research) he was more so influential in archaeomagnetic research. Unfortunately many aspects of archaeology have been rather neglected here on Wikipedia. This small stub of an article about dr. Aitken had me questioning the state of my chosen career here and I will definitely be adding a lot of information beginning with dr. Aitken himself. The best resource I have found for him are an obituary in Archaeometry itself and an article honoring him in his retirement from the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, but it will need time to plough through it all.
