Marriott...largest hotel company in the world?

The third sentence of this article says the following - "Today, Marriott International is the largest hotel company with more than 4,000 properties in over 80 countries and territories around the world, with additional 195,000 rooms in the development pipeline."

I'm not sure by what measure is Marriott the "world's largest hotel company", and this appears to contradict the pages for InterContinental Hotels Group and Best Western. It doesn't seem to have the highest amount of rooms nor the highest amount of hotels; though perhaps the measure is on a financial standpoint. I suggest that the phrase be clarified to avoid confusion...any thoughts?

In my opinion, any claim of largest needs a specific citation. Otherwise, it is useless. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:11, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Well if neither of you wants to fix this, I will. Kendall-K1 (talk) 04:53, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Autograph Collection Hotels

Short article; please consider merging into the parent company's article. If the article is to be expanded in the future you can remove this tag. Roches (talk) 03:37, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Yes, that seems like a good idea. Kendall-K1 (talk) 11:50, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
Strongly support It's not notable by itself, so should be merged into this article. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:04, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
Opposed The article is new and should be given an opportunity to be expanded. The Autograph Collection is as notable as Fairfield Inn by Marriott and the other brands by Marriott. If this article is to be merged than all the others should be as well. Farragutful (talk) 11:18, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
Newness and comparison to other existing articles are not the criteria we use for deciding the notability of a company. See Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) for the applicable guidelines. Kendall-K1 (talk) 11:51, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
