Notoriety

[edit]

Borderline but sufficient notoriety to be included as an entry. I do object to inclusion on the Cooperstown entry as it implies that she is a Cooperstown Writer. This is a very elite group and requires Upstate New York essence and authenticity. She may be an accomplished interpeter of the Lousiana experience and an excellent writer, but mere residence in America's greatest village does not qualify one as a Cooperstown Writer without more objective criteria to support this contention. Retracted. Her upcoming novella "Glimmerglass" is more than enough. Peace, I am the Botendaddy 01:14, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Marly sent me this message, dated 16 July 2012, on Facebook, which I will share as documentation:

Xander,

Somebody told me that there were errors in my Wikipedia article (not your new stuff) and I went over and fixed them (dumped old website and added more recent books and divided them by genre because it seemed such a muddle to figure out what was what.)

But I did want to fix one thing in the box but had not the slightest idea how. The genres category should probably read: poetry; novels; short stories; books for children.

It also repeats the now non-existent website. I just have one at www.thepalaceat2.blogspot.com now.

And the name: that is my birth name, but it's not either my legal name or my writing name. Could we just use "Marly Youmans"?

Looks nice, though; I have a box! Woo!

When's the big day? Hope all is going very well!

Good cheer,

Marly

We're always delighted to make corrections; but of course the subject of an article does not get to dictate things like their name, when it's a matter of public record. I've gone in and tightened up the article, and (I hope) made it clearer that "Marly" is her primary name nowadays. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:49, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
