plead guilty

[edit]

I thought he plead guilty only "honest services" fraud and tax fraud charges. Not to the cash for kids scam. --217.10.60.85 (talk) 10:20, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kids for cash scandal

[edit]

A redirect, Kids for cash scandal, has been created as a placeholder for a new main article about the entire scandal. It currently redirects to Mark Ciavarella. I am going to attempt to throw together a couple of paragraphs to replace the redirect later this morning, any thoughts would be appreciated. Sswonk (talk) 14:13, 25 August 2009 (UTC)  Article started It duplicates a few of the sentences in the Ciavarella article but that should change over time. Sswonk (talk) 16:16, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the paragraph that described the 2009 appeal as being based on the lack of a guilty plea. There was a guilty verdict in 2011. That would seem to remove the basis of the appeal. I was unable to find any update on any subsequent court decision as to the legitimacy of the forfeiture of pension rights although I assume Ciavarella's action contesting the forfeiture was likely dismissed. American justice !?

[edit]

Can we pay inmates at his prison to rape him?....Article states "Ciavarella has denied that there was a connection between the juvenile sentences he rendered and the kickbacks he received", due to this , his punishment was quadroupeled (I've watched a TV-documentary on this scandal) from 7 to 28 years ! Although mr Ciavarella presumably has damaged some youth in Pennsylvania, not all convicted were innocent.

And 28 years (of which 21 are for talking about the first 7) appear to me to far far too long.
For American society in general, might the power he had as juvenile judge been too much. And surelly more people must have been involved. I think this also clearly demonstrates why prisons (of all kind) must be owned and run by the nation, state , county or city - not private owned prisons. The same goes for police, military, large hospitals etc (Ment for libertanians) Boeing720 (talk) 06:22, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
