No Doubt

[edit]

Should No Doubt be mentioned as an associated act because Lady Saw featured on their song Underneath It All ? KingAlanI (talk) 02:25, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth?

[edit]

Two different years appear for her date of birth, 1968 and 1972. Which one is it?--Lawrlafo (talk) 07:19, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where either of the exact dates came from. The Larkin book cited in the article states 1969 although a leter version stated 18 September 1972. Allmusic states 1972 as does David Moskowitz's Caribbean Popular Music and Joel Whitburn's Top R&B/hip-hop singles. Neither specifies a date. I would suggest that we simply state 1972 until we have a consensus of reliable sources for a precise date. --Michig (talk) 07:27, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There was an interview in 2014 where she said she is 46, which would indicate she was born in 1968. Here is the link to the interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMZYxyTXzYU). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.221.143.162 (talk) 18:32, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We need something better than a Youtube video, and pop stars are often unreliable when it comes to stating their own ages. --Michig (talk) 20:39, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's a place to start, right? And don't women, if they lie about their age, lie the other way (go younger)? Let's use it until there's a more definitive source please.--A21sauce (talk) 12:40, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Lady Saw discography

A separate discography article doesn't seem necessary per WP:SIZESPLIT or WP:CONSPLIT – Arms & Hearts (talk) 18:35, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree as it stands, although she has released a lot more singles than those currently listed - the discogs.com discography runs to 11 pages. --Michig (talk) 19:10, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Keep. I think the page needs more activity. I agree with User: Michig. She has more discography than what is listed, not to mention videos. We need a way to gather which songs have videos. But I see no reason for a merge. Reggaefannice (talk) 01:51, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure I actually explained the reason above. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 06:05, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Merge. When someone is looking at the biography of a performing artists or musician, they are expecting to get a comprehensive overview of the person's creative works. As the article stands, the discography section is very incomplete. To make it usable, it would become unnecessary redundant with what is currently on the Lady Saw discography page. I think it would improve the experience for people trying to learn about Lady Saw to merge the articles. --chemica (talk) 20:41, 10 October 2015 (UTC
Keep. I am working on the pages now. Horizonlove (talk) 19:13, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Renamed the page to Marion Hall

[edit]

I think the article page should be moved to Marion Hall or Minister Marion Hall since she no longer performs under the name Lady Saw. Horizonlove (talk) 00:14, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

She is still primarily known as Lady Saw so until that changes it should stay at Lady Saw. --Michig (talk) 06:14, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
She renounced that name and even changed her facebook. Her new album "When God Speaks" is credited under Minister Marion Hall, which supported the fact that she is a minister. And addition to that, I think all the pages that recognize her as Lady Saw should re-direct to Marion Hall and we add "Lady Saw" to the list of her alias. Horizonlove (talk) 20:38, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also, her Instagram and Twitter recognizes her as Minister Marion Hall. Many media outlets also refer to her Minister Marion Hall. Horizonlove (talk) 20:42, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Marion HallLady Saw – Appears to still be known primarily by her former name. Compare 253k results for "Marion Hall" on Google versus 1.59m for "Lady Saw" (both in quotes). Sources I see which call her Marion Hall still mention the Lady Saw name consistently. The page move to current name appears to have been a matter of recentism.
