Unpublished report

[edit]

However, the report of her 1914 voyage was never published and her personal diaries were never found.

The report appears to be located in the University of Pennsylvania archives.(Anderson 2005) Viriditas (talk) 09:26, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, in view of that remark, I'm just going to delete the sentence. -- Radagast3 (talk) 09:54, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

[edit]

After cleanup by Viriditas and myself, two issues remain:

  • the comment above, and
  • which university expressed its regret and "appreciation of the loss to the University of so distinguished a member of its staff": Oxford or Bristol? -- Radagast3 (talk) 09:23, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
... and the first of these is now resolved too. -- Radagast3 (talk) 09:56, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

It would be nice to get a photo of Czaplicka and/or one of her Siberian specimens. -- Radagast3 (talk) 09:23, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find any public-domain photos of Czaplicka, though, and I'm not sure of the status of the Pitt Rivers Museum photos. -- Radagast3 (talk) 09:59, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've found several in the last few days. Let me see if I can track them down. Viriditas (talk) 10:31, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Found the first one. Upload in progress... Viriditas (talk) 12:33, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great! -- Radagast3 (talk) 13:09, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Found another one, but won't be able to upload until tomorrow. Looks like there's quite a few out there. Viriditas (talk) 13:16, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

č

[edit]

Was there really a č in her name? There is no such letter in the Polish alphabet and it look extremely strange to me. If she really had such a weird name, could someone please add some explanation to the article as to where it comes from? — Kpalion(talk) 19:04, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. I'm changing it as per (1) the name as printed in her books, and (2) Polish Wikipedia. If I'm wrong, it can easily be changed back. -- Radagast3 (talk) 21:41, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Burial

[edit]

Her London Times obit/death notice (30/5/21) says her funeral was at Holy Souls Cemetery, Arnos Vale, Bristol, rather than in Oxford as mentioned in the article (I am assuming the burial and funeral venue are the same). Frothelhorse (talk) 10:14, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The burial site is sourced. The burial and funeral venues may not have been the same. She wanted to be buried in Oxford. -- Radagast3 (talk) 10:44, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
