Is Yumi really "new" first-year student?
At the start of the story, around 5 or 6 monthes have passed since her entrance to Lillian high school. Moreover she has been in Lillian academy since her kindergarten year.--132.179.39.36
Lily
the use of lilies reinforces this in subtext, as do the names of the student council and of the school itself.
It's disputable. Lily seems to be used as the symbol of Virgin Mary.--132.179.39.36
Perhaps it should be logged at a potential double entendre, then?--Art is life and life is an art. 06:16, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
IMHO... No. See "To Yuri, or Not to Yuri" below. --Stahlwolf 18:48, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree with the previous comments about the lily references being disputable. I'll even go as far as to say that perhaps it's not as Yuri as everyone thinks with the one exception. I think the difference falls between homosexual and homosocial relationships and the audiences lack of ability to decipher the two, hence it's automatically labeled Yuri. On top of that, I could be wrong, but the flowers look like roses to me, as in rosary, not lilies.
Soeurs vs. Sœurs
I'm not a speaker of French, but it seems like this French website spells it as Soeurs. [1] -- 69.212.100.83
- Same thing. oe (single letters) functions the same as the œ combined character. Same thing with ae and æ.--Mitsukai 00:51, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
Lillian
Hello, I haven't seen the TV series, but as far as on novels, Lilian is not a boarding school. Every students referred in works live with their family.
- ... now that you mention it, that sounds right. Didn't Yumi live at home? I'm reluctant to change the article on my memory alone, though. --Aponar Kestrel 06:12, 2004 Jul 11 (UTC)
- Yumi and the rest do have homes to go to after school. Lillian is not a boarding school. It is a large campus comprised of many schools from kindergarten to college. There are, however, college dorms, as indicated in the third novel when Sei mentions Shiori living there. And a convent. So, while living 'on campus' is possible, just not plausible during prepatory studies. --Stahlwolf 05:49, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Voice actors
The following may be useful once the second season can be written about...
- From http://forums.animesuki.com/archive/index.php/t-16881.html:
- Matsudaira Touko is voiced by Kugimiya Rie (Rizel in "Rizelmine" and Alphonse Elric in "Fullmetal Alchemist")
- Nijou Noriko is voiced by Shimizu Kaori (Iwakura Lain in "serial experiments lain" and Miyashita Touka in "Boogiepop Phantom")
Kugimiya Rie: 釘宮理恵 Shimizu Kaori: 清水香里 (official HP: http://www.kaoryclub.com/)
I haven't verified any of this, mind. But, once blurbs can be written for them, these seiyuu will also need articles...

Things removed
Removed: TV series being based on the manga. The novels came first (1988), followed by the anime (Jan 2004), the manga (Feb 2004) and the Drama CD series. The anime series has very little to do with the manga and vice-versa, being made almost simultaneously, with no co-ordination. -- 219.93.174.100
- Actually the manga version first appeared in a sem-monthly shojo manga magazine Margaret in 2003 before the anime. Volume 1 of the tankōbon was later sold in 2004. --Tokek 03:47, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
- Also, multiple sources say the first volume of the novel came out in 1998, not 1988. --Tokek 04:18, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
- Even before the animated series was produced, the Marimite novels and manga had - and still have - an enormous yuri fandom as well. needs correction too. --132.179.39.36
Removed: "At the TV series release, reportedly half of all yuri fanwork distributed in Japan, such as on 2chan, was based on Marimite." Reported by whom? And honestly, I just checked 2chan's yuri board -- the first thing I saw was a picture of cats gathered around a mouse or hamster cage with the caption 'Tasukete onee-sama~' followed by a picture of Alf captioned something like 'Tasukete yarou!' Is this really encyclopedic? --Aponar Kestrel 17:33, 2004 Jul 28 (UTC)
- Also removed, after copyediting:
- Marimite has also popularized the phrase ごきげんよう (gokigen'yō, an honorific (teinei) phrase used both as a greeting and as a parting) among both Japanese and Anglophone fans of the show.
- It's not really encyclopedic yet; right now it's just ephemera. If it's still in use a year or two after the series ends, then it'll be encyclopedic. --Aponar Kestrel (talk) 01:32, 2004 Sep 15 (UTC)
Third season
The DVD releases for the third season OVA are now listed on http://www.animate-shop.jp (and no doubt other sites will follow). I've added what detail I can from them, but one unknown is the episode count - I suspect it should be 10, since I'm sure I've seen the figure 50min/DVD somewhere, but in the absence of a reference I've listed 5 (one per DVD). SimonB NZ 06:39, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- http://www.animate.tv/nf/detail.php?id=0000000769 states the DVDs will be 50 minutes each, so I feel safe bumping the episode count up to 10 now SimonB NZ 08:38, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Replacing pictures
Just took down the copyright-ambiguous pictures that had been removed earlier (and someone subsequently had put back in). I'm thinking at this point these pictures should proabably be removed outright and replaced with something known to be okay, like a screenshot or something.--Mitsukai 00:58, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
External links
According to WP:EL there should only be one fansite listed per article. Do we need a French, Spanish and three Japanese fansites in the EL? --Squilibob 07:05, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ordinarily I don't care enough to enforce that, but yeah, this was ... excessive. I've cut pretty much all of them out. (I left Yumi-chan's Ribbon solely because it amused me, and shan't complain if it gets removed too.) –Aponar Kestrel (talk) 06:19, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
Time Paradox?
Hey, just finished watching episode 11 of the first season and... Why did Christmas came after Valentine's Day...? I was wondering if the episodes were arranged like Suzumiya Haruhi, but it's the first time I noticed this not so coherent order of events. It's also weird that I can't seem to find any metion about this, here or on any other page. So, did I missed something or is it really an error? Thanks. ShinjiPG 19:05, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Artistic license in depicting the order of events? Personally I just assumed that the episodes weren't arranged in strict chronological order and left it at that. I don't think it's terribly notable. –Aponar Kestrel (talk) 14:37, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- My point is, why did they suddenly changed the order of events if, so far, it was following a correct chronological order. Made no sense to me, artistically or not. There's something called "to be coherent". ShinjiPG 10:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- The Valentine's Day episode aired before the Christmas episode to coincide with the air date being near Valentine's Day 2004. --Stahlwolf 05:29, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
To yuri, or Not to yuri....
With all this talk about Marimite being yuri, it really isn't when you step back and take a good look. It's about students growing up in high school. It just happens to be an all-girls school. There are relationships, crushes, and a romance, but it's not at all graphic as yuri is said to be. Shoujo ai is more commonplace in this series, and all the references to yuri doujinshi and the like seems to tarnish the luster of this drama. This story is not fantsy-based. There are no magic users or robots. No inuendoes of pulling swords in and out of peoples bodies. The background to Marimite is that of real-life.... or reality. That's why there are no bright colors. No weird hair styles. No talking animals. It is my opinion that the term 'yuri' for Marimite should be filtered and paragraph in Story and Setting reference edited. --Stahlwolf 06:19, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- You use the word "yuri" wrong. Yuri refers to all relationships between females with romantic undertones. Shoujo-ai is a term coined by confused westerners, and has little relevance. Further, yuri does not have much to do with a series being fantasy-based or not. The term yuri is thus highly appropriate. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.136.135.218 (talk) 22:26, 27 January 2007 (UTC).
I agree with Stahlwolf on this one, not Yuri. Anonymous poster above is mistaken. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.82.114.23 (talk) 22:39, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- No, 80.136.135.218 was right. If you read the Yuri (term) article, it says that the loan term shōjo-ai was invented by westerners to differentiate between yuri (which is thought to be more explicit) and shōjo-ai (which is thought to be more implicit). However, this term is not only incorrectly used, but has no basis in the Japanese culture. In Japan, the term yuri is used for al female-female relationships regardless of severity, so this series is indeed yuri.--十八 22:52, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- This is definitely yuri, no doubt about it. Not only does it comply with every definition of what yuri is, but you'd have to be stupid not to notice it. Anyone who thinks this isn't yuri is totally in denial.--mahq (talk) 16:05, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
"Questionable art quality"
Seems like an intrusion of opinion into what should be a factual article. DavidJohns 02:29, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- If it's been noted in reviews etc. then it's part of the critical reception of the series. - Malkinann 04:51, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Shouldn't those reviews be cited, then? There is one review ([2]) linked at the bottom of the article, and it doesn't contain anything about questionable art quality. In fact, it it very positive about the art. "questionable art quality" sounds very much like opinion. It doesn't belong in the section of the article it's currently in (having nothing to do with the story or setting), it belongs in a "reception" section, and it doesn't belong in the article at all unless it can be backed up with some reviews. Right now it's pretty much weasel-wording. 24.69.167.159 19:58, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm guessing this was a typo. I suspect the original author meant to type "unquestionable." It makes much more sense in the context of the sentence/paragraph, which immediately goes on to discuss artistic choices, etc. K8inorbit 15:46, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- From that interview: "While the animation itself isn't particularly spectacular (and Studio Deen's work apparently fluctuates in later episodes), the artwork is very appealing,..." - Malkinann 00:10, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Wheres the info?
All thats in the article is a brief description of the premise, and of the characters involved. There is next to no info on how the story develops, or anything other than what is in the anime series......there is no info on the manga or novel version for example. Where is it? -- Question2

Is Kashiwagi really gay?
One section under the character description of Kashiwagi says he's "gay and in love with Yumi's brother, Yuuki". That's... questionable. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 169.229.80.180 (talk) 09:14, 17 January 2007 (UTC).
- Acording to the manga, yes, he is gay (Though it seems they didn't make it so explicit nor clear in the anime), and considering that Kashiwagi and Yuuki are often seen close, it's quite posible (It might be official in the manga too, but I still haven't read the whole of it) (Alexlayer 01:23, 18 January 2007 (UTC))
- Yeah, he's gay. As for him crushing on Yuuki, maybe it's more of a novel thing? (or the manga/anime just hasn't caught up yet. - Malkinann 03:20, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
"When I entered high school, what do you think Suguru-san said when he came to my high school entrance party? 'I can see myself in you, so if we got married, it would surely turn out well. We each could live as we pleased, let's stay out of each other's hair.' When I asked 'What do you mean?' he confessed 'You might not like this, but for sex partners, I only like men.' So if I want to have children, I have to take a lover from outside the marriage. It looks like he would accept my children in the family, and they could inherit the Ogasawara group. He said since they'll be more or less connected by blood, he'll still love them. What in the world is he thinking? He thinks I'm a fool." [3]

Attention: Translation website to be removed on all Marimite articles
Due to copyright concerns outlined at WP:COPYRIGHT, the English language translation project, linked on some (if not all) Marimite articles, http://ziggr.com/mariasama/, will be removed without question due to copyright infringment and the unauthorized creation of a derivitive work from the novels. This is a notice to anyone who wishes to know why the website got removed. At WP:COPYRIGHT#Linking to copyrighted works, it states:
However, if you know that an external Web site is carrying a work in violation of the creator's copyright, do not link to that copy of the work. Knowingly and intentionally directing others to a site that violates copyright has been considered a form of contributory infringement in the United States (Intellectual Reserve v. Utah Lighthouse Ministry). Linking to a page that illegally distributes someone else's work sheds a bad light on Wikipedia and its editors.--十八 03:43, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- I will be inserting this, then, which is not a copyright infringement. StumbleUpon does not carry an author's work - it links to a file/parts of a file which is/are hosted elsewhere. So links to the StumbleUpon are just as valid here on WIkipedia as links to Google are (like this). Note: part of this comment is not mine, but rather copied over from here. Regards, A 13:28, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Guess I'm going to have to make it more clear then: Knowingly and intentionally directing others to a site that violates copyright has been considered a form of contributory infringement in the United States. The site in question still holds a link to the translation site, which is contributory infringement on their part, and yours; removing again on this basis.--十八 13:49, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- This comment was not made by me, but rather by someone else here. This doesn't violate copyright. No copyrighted material is found on their servers. Regards, A 14:34, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Please click here for something important, and click on this link before responding to this message. You missed the key element with your bolding: "if you know that an external Web site is carrying a work in violation of the creator's copyright, do not link to that copy of the work". This, is not a link to any work, but to another website or nothing that is copyright violation, and it is perfectly clear that in Wikipedia we can link to it. It doesn't matter if the site or organisation doings are legal or not. (Like homepages of Al-qaida, Hells angels, Kavkaz Center, CIA, etc etc,,,). Regards, A 22:27, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- While I still think you're trying to cut corners, I guess you're technically right. I still don't like it though.--十八 01:05, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- A partially irrelevant comment: It's just that I saw that surely one could link to The Pirate Bay, so I felt a need to somehow make it consistent one way or another, and this is by trying to see how your argument fails by presenting it to those at The Pirate Bay, and getting the answers from them. Regards, A 01:31, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? I'm not involved with The Pirate Bay article.--十八 02:21, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Marimite promoting Pizza Hut?
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-11-19/marimite-pizza-hut-japan-campaign-fan-disk-announced - it seems that the Yamayurikai will be promoting Pizza Hut in the near future... is this pertinent to the article? -Malkinann (talk) 12:10, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think it would be okay to add it into Reception; I mean just how many anime series out there promote fast-food chains?--十八 01:32, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Characters Section
Considering there's already an article about the characters of the anime, shouldn't we delete the whole Character section in the main article leaving only the "Main article: List of Maria-sama ga Miteru characters" right under the Yamayurikai heading? Otherwise, it's all repeated information.
Just a thought. --Alexlayer (talk) 21:57, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, per WP:SS there should be a short summary here. In practice, for anime/manga series, this usually translates to quick blurb for each of the most important characters. In other words, more or less what we have now. Possibly this pages' entries could be trimmed a little more, but it's a decent ballance as it stands. —Quasirandom (talk) 22:52, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Anime license / article name
Well, the name given to the English release of the anime by The Right Stuf Internationale is Maria Watches Over Us. Still, I don't think we should move the article to that name. English-speaking readers commonly recognize this franchise by its native title, so per Wikipedia:Naming conventions#Use English words I suggest to leave the article as it is now. Kazu-kun (talk) 20:34, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- I concur, at least for now. It may in the future become better known by that translation, but until then Maria-sama ga Miteru is the best-known title. (Heh. Just noticed that Right Stuf's url for the announcement uses "maria-sama".) —Quasirandom (talk) 22:36, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- The Right Stuf even used Maria-sama ga Miteru as a subtitle on the website, so I also agree that the article should retain the title Maria-sama ga Miteru. If, perhaps, a separate anime article is created in the future, it can be properly named Maria Watches Over Us.--十八 23:11, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Am just wondering if we should standardise mentions of the Lillian school to be "Lillian Girls' Academy", as that's what they seem to be translating "Shiritsu Ririan Jogakuen" as. Does anyone know how they handled this in the Animax dub? -Malkinann (talk) 04:15, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Just wondering...
Hairston's article describes a few of the setting mechanisms - would it be appropriate to use him as a citation for that, or should we just leave it as it is? (with the implicit assumption that you can pick up any of it by watching the series.) -Malkinann (talk) 22:33, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- We must source as much as possible. So, yes, it is appropriate to use that article as reference. Kazu-kun (talk) 03:51, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Just wondering -- what article by Hairston? Do you mean his review of Maria-sama ga miteru in Mechademia volume 1? Timothy Perper (talk) 01:36, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, that's precisely the one I mean. I've used it in the reception section a bit, but I was also querying whether we could also use his discussion of the series concepts, like the council and the soeur system, or if it could just be cited to the series itself. -Malkinann (talk) 23:17, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
I think it'd be an excellent source for discussing the council and soeur system. Mechademia is a genuinely scholarly journal so it's fine for what you want to do. Timothy Perper (talk) 14:19, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
I've proposed the deletion of the article Maribato as I'm not sure that it's notable. Just thought I should put a quick note about it here. -Malkinann (talk) 10:11, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Season 4?
I think it would be nice to have a section stating the status of season 4. I would start it but I don't have access to much info about it. Maybe someone here does? Thanks for your time! Bluetd (talk) 16:58, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
- It's already mentioned in the second paragraph of the anime sub-section; it doesn't need it's own section. And, as of now, I believe all the information known about the fourth season is in the article.--十八 03:47, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Does this count as a RS? Apparently Season 4 will air in January 2009, but there's some kind of asterisked proviso that I can't read. -Malkinann (talk) 00:44, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. There's something about the asterisk at the top, but I couldn't figure out what it meant other than perhaps the ones asterisked are subject to change. In any case, I'd rather wait for a better source.--十八 04:28, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Season 4 is done now. Probably need to change the text for that now. Any word on a 5th season? Bluetd (talk) 15:14, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- Discussed right now among amateurs of this series. We will update when will have anything official so no room for speculations however discussion consensus is that there is enough material for an OVA or 5th seasons. so wait and see. --KrebMarkt 21:11, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
I just removed some linkspam
The link connected to a large image from someone named "Zodiac" who was raving and ranting about something. I removed the link. Timothy Perper (talk) 16:32, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks, Malkinann. Yes, that's the crud I removed. Maybe, Juhachi, you should be a trace more willing to assume good faith than you are. Timothy Perper (talk) 22:03, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- Considering this all could have been avoided if you had just reverted the vandalism on the template first, I wouldn't have had to assume anything.--十八 01:28, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Sigh... I did not know know where the spam was entering. What template? The one that Malkinann mentioned? How does one edit it? If we click on the "template" link in the stuff Malkinann linked to, no explanation is given for how to modify it or how to remove garbage from it -- that link just tells you how to use the Ann_anime template. So I don't know where the spam is coming from nor how to remove it. If you think that's the source of the problem, why don't you edit the tenplate yourself, since you know how? Timothy Perper (talk) 03:28, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I see what's going on. You're right in that the vandalism diff linked by Malkinann is a little difficult to edit for the typical user as there is no "edit" link. However, even if you can't see the edit link, realizing that the history of any page can be see by taking the history url from one page (say Maria-sama ga Miteru) and removing the "Maria-sama_ga_Miteru" text, and replacing it with "Template:Ann_anime", which is the template in question that was vandalized ({{ann anime}}), and then reverting the vandalism by clicking the "undo" link next to the vandalized edit. That's what a user could do, even though it's laborious. I have double-click editing enabled, so even if an edit link isn't visible I can still edit (and it's quicker since I don't have to worry about finding the nearest "edit" link).
- And I know you're not stupid. You realized the ANN link was the problem, and removed it. However, knowing that the ANN link is rendered by a template ({{ann anime}}), and knowing how to revert the vandalism in cases like these would be a good thing to know since it wouldn't cause unnecessary misunderstandings like this. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way. If you need help, please ask an administrator, or go to the help desk.--十八 06:35, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- And when I say, ever-so-coolly, that "I've seen this before", I mean "I've seen this before, and I ran crying all the way to WP:AIV, where I listed the vandalism and said 'I don't know what to dooo!' and they fixed it for me." Because that's what happened. You did better than I did to isolate the offending template, Tim. I'm glad youse have sorted this out with the extra information I was able to provide about the vandal. -Malkinann (talk) 08:58, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- OK, so we're laboriously getting this together. Juhachi, thanks for the detailed info about fixing this -- it's useful information. I've inserted a good many ANN refs in various articles, but this is the first time I've ever heard there was an ANN template. I may use it in the future but if it risks waking up Zodiac again, maybe I won't -- <grin>. Identifying that template -- it was the crucial evidence, Malkinann, the crucial evidence against this malefactor! OK, back to more patrolling and reverting and adding new, but spam-free stuff. Yume no Miya
On Cobalt's website, I found this site for Yume no Miya 夢の宮 which is Konno's prior work. Can anyone see anything on that website which refers to the prizes/awards Yume no Miya recieved? -Malkinann (talk) 01:05, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- There's nothing about prize or awards. It's just talking about the story, premise, characters, setting, and book list.--十八 02:16, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Aw. :( Is Yume no Miya on hiatus, or has it concluded? -Malkinann (talk) 03:50, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- It doesn't say but it was being published regularly until late 2001, and then it went on hiatus and the next (and last) one came out in September 2005, so I guess it's still possible the author will write more.--十八 10:47, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm just trying to think of how to reword that she was already an established author with Yume no Miya (1994-2001, 2005) and remove the unverifiable stuff about the prize. Any ideas?-Malkinann (talk) 11:37, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I see. But something is off since the article states she won a prize in 1993, but the first book in Yume no Miya came out in 1994...--十八 22:32, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe the novel was serialised in the magazine through 1993, won the award and was published in "tankobon format" in '94? I don't know. I wonder if it even works that way... I've removed the mention of the prizes for now, and had a whack at rewording the allusion to Yume no Miya. -Malkinann (talk) 00:01, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

On a different note, is Palace's Dream really the correct translation of the title? Shouldn't it be Palace of Dreams or Dream Palace or something? Simon Brady (talk) 15:03, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Prizes
The February 2004 issue of Cobalt has a handy timeline of Konno's work in the article Invitation to Konno's World (今野ワールドへの誘い), pp17–19. It states that she won the Cobalt Novel Award and Readers' Award for the first half of 1993 for Yume no Miya, but that the first novel in the series wasn't published until March 1994:
- 1993年6月 「夢の宮〜竜の見た夢〜」で'93年上期ノベル大賞&読者大賞W受賞
- (Details of three short stories omitted)
- 1994年3月 『夢の宮〜竜の見た夢〜』で文庫デビュー
The prize info matches the biography given on the last page of each Marimite novel, and more or less matches ja:今野緒雪 (although it's not clear whether both awards were for the first half of the year, or just one of them), so I feel reasonably confident about adding this back in. Added Reference to Protoculture Article
I just added a reference for the overall content and style of Marimite from the current (print) issue of Protoculture (issue #97). Nothing about prizes, though...just a good article that deals, in part, with the yuri themes of the story. Timothy Perper (talk) 17:52, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Cool! Thank you, Tim! I hear tell that the final issue of PiQ had an article on Marimite too... Does anyone have access to a copy? -Malkinann (talk) 21:23, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Another ANN review
You guys are probably all over it already, but there's a second review of S1 at ANN. —Quasirandom (talk) 02:42, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks! :) I've found this, in which it says that Konno Oyuki didn't base Lillian on any specific school, but it's posted in the forums as part of a convention report. ;-; Can we use it? -Malkinann (talk) 03:30, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Wait just a second. Considering how she answered the question, it seems she's talking about the soeur system being her own creation, not about the school's design itself, which is what is stated in this article's settings and themes section. If we can find a source, I believe we'll find that she used Musashino Joshi Gakuin as a basis for the campus, and then (as she stated in the questionnaire) she created the concept of the soeur system. And no, we can't use it since it's a forum post.--十八 07:30, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Um, I find it hard to read "I didn't use any real world school" as meaning anything but exactly that, rather than a modifier of the following clause. But as Juhachi says, we can't directly use that as entirely reliable. It is enough, though, to make the claim she had a model debateable, and appropriately tagged with {{fact}}. (If it can be shown to be a translation of one of the subpages at http://www.ccpa.org.tw/comic/ however, then it'd be a good transcript.) —Quasirandom (talk) 14:24, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Considering that she did say the following clause "although I did use some personal experiences in all-girls high school and college", I do not think she would have said that had she not intended the first part of the sentence, "I didn't use any real world school" to draw context from the following clause. Plus, she brings up the soeur system, saying that it's a pity it doesn't exist. Why would she say that if she was intending to answer a question on the campus design, and not the school system? That is because I believe she took the question as "were there any real-world schools that had a similar school system", and she answered accordingly; that is not the same as "did you base Lillian off of any real-world schools that had a similar campus and/or were catholic schools", so you can't take her answer as answering for both the soeur system, and the campus design.--十八 00:15, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

About Animate fair warning
Just to inform people working on that article to prepare plan B when Animate will decide to close the Maria-sama ga Miteru web radio. That happened for Aria (manga) so that's not a legend. I recommend you to start looking for alternate references & sources for when that will happen. KrebMarkt 21:57, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Geez as usual i end up finding the solution myself :(

Second season title
For the editors who wonder why the second season title is Printemps.
The Japanese title is Haru meaning Spring in English. Nozomi the US licensor made the choice to use the French translation so Printemps.
The choice is to stick with US release title. Thanks --KrebMarkt 21:54, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
2 seasons of internet radio?
In ja:Webラジオ マリア様がみてる, the Japanese wiki page about the internet radio, they seem to treat it as being two seasons? --Malkinann (talk) 19:58, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Family names
Dunno if it has been discussed, but I noticed a lot of the family names in the series stem from samurai clans. Ogasawara for instance, were a high class clan, kind of in line with how Sachiko's family are "bigshots". While the Fukuzawa clan were low class, also fitting seeing as Yumi's family are sort of modest in the way of living conditions and way of life. Any mention of this anywere? 85.19.140.9 (talk) 16:09, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Merged from List of Maria-sama ga Miteru albums
Album covers removed
Album covers are not supported in discographies. This has been long standing practice now and is not in dispute. Pick any random sampling of 50 articles from Category:Discographies. You will not find a single article in that category that contains album covers. If by some miracle you do find one, it will have only recently been added and the covers will be removed soon. I've removed the album covers again, as this is a clear violation of our guideline and policy. Do not re-add them. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 14:59, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
