Hi Parkwells,
I was wondering why Marguerite (woman of color) wasn't named Marguerite Scypion; the sources I've read (which I'll grant are not that many) show the case referencing that surname a great deal, and I knew you had done a lot of work on it. Care to enlighten the uninformed and curious?

Hi, thanks for your interest. I really debated that for a while and had named the article different ways when drafting it. It's hard to remember exactly, but my final decision may have been because that was the name by which she filed her freedom suit, and I thought that was the way it might be most searchable in the MO History Society database online (will check that again). Also, some of the sources I had used did not refer to her as Marguerite Scypion initially. We could always change it. Parkwells (talk) 17:07, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
How about a redirect (disambig link?...or whatever it's called) in case people come looking for "Marguerite Scypion"? I don't think the article should be re-named, just the ability for an additional search term would take care of any possible confusion. Another idea that occurs to me is this... what did this woman refer to herself as? Perhaps we should honor her chosen name. --Shearonink (talk) 17:13, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I was not able to find any evidence of what she called herself, unlike references to her mother. Foley's article was quite detailed, but referred to Marguerite and her sisters simply by their first names, as they were apparently known as slaves. (Don't know how to do a redirect, so someone else has to do that.) We could still rename the article; it may be easier for researchers.
