It seems extraordinary that John Brown (British Army soldier) was deliberately intended to be captured unless a system was in place to get info out from POW camps and it was known in advance this would be useful. In short, there is a lot more to come out from this story even if the Official Secrets Act limits what can be said for the next 35 years or so.
Wikipedia requires sources for both your Wigan papers and the records. This is described in Wikipedia:Cite#Inline_citations but if the paper is online and you need help, could you provide the url and ISBN and I'll do it?
