A note on British English
[edit]British English should be used for articles on Britain related topics. Likewise, American English should be used on articles pertaining to American topics. For a clearer example, please visit this sub-section on the differences between their usage. I have made the necessary changes. Please feel free to comment on this. --Siva1979Talk to me 05:10, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Alex Jackson famous former Margate player
[edit]I would like to add to the page that Alex Jackson the famous Scottish international played for Margate. But it keeps getting deleted. Surely it is interesting to have a Scottish international as a former Margate player.
Alex Jackson the famous Scottish international, also played for Margate for a period. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EnglishRedAndWhite (talk • contribs) 19:19, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
- A number of players with international caps have played for Margate. There is no reason to single out Jackson for particular mention...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 20:31, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

WP:URFA/2020 review
[edit]- In the Margate_F.C.#Managers section, the managers are cited until we get to 2015, after which they go uncited.
- There is some WP:OVERLINKing; you can install User:Evad37/duplinks-alt to check for others (which require some judgement calls).
- @SandyGeorgia: - fixed - thanks for the tip on that script! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:58, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- In the Honours section, about half of the items in the table are uncited.
- @SandyGeorgia: - fixed -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:58, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

- I will get to the rest over the next few days...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:31, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- What makes http://www.tonykempster.co.uk/ a reliable source (particularly considering the disclaimer ... "Due to my deteriorating health (See health.tonykempster.co.uk), this site will be frozen at the end of the 08/09 season.")?
- What makes https://web.archive.org/web/20071218120458/http://www.margatefchistory.co.uk/aboutme.htm a high-quality or reliable source?
- Ditto http://www.margatefootballclubhistory.com/aboutsite.shtml
- add https://web.archive.org/web/20050206054437/http://www.ytfc.com/
- Ditto http://www.pyramidpassion.co.uk/html/margate_archive_pics.html

- The third one is the official site of Yeovil Town F.C., think that should certainly be OK. Will look at/replace the others -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:15, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hmm, seems ytfc is/was a fan site, not the official club site. I will look to replace that too -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:21, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Standards have changed a lot since 2007; thanks for taking this on, Best regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:23, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

- None of the first three queried links above are in the article unless I am missing something - maybe someone already replaced them............?? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:26, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- When querying reliability, one checks for an "about us" or similar information for the website ... those are the only "about" information pages I could find for websites used in the article ... eg, pyramidpassion.co.uk, tonykempseter.co.uk, margatefchistory.co.uk, and ytfc.com. They all look like fan sites, and are all used in the article ... the links above are not the actual pages used, rather the only "about" info I could find on the websites. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:37, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Oh OK, that makes sense -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:41, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- The Margate FC History site has an extensive list of credits at [1], including the archive of the Thanet Times (the local newspaper). That's the best I can manage for that site. I'll try to find alternate sources but it might be a struggle and might involve culling a lot of stuff..... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:53, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Two of the above links are to that same site, BTW - the URL for the site changed at some point...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:53, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- It got confusing in there :) The credits at margatefootballclubhistory aren't helpful unless they speak specifically to the requirements at WP:SPS. Having "access to archives" doesn't speak to SPS ... SandyGeorgia (Talk) 19:03, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Pyramid Passion, Tony Kempster and YTFC should now all be gone, and I am working through replacing the Margate FC History ones...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 20:12, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

ChrisTheDude sorry for the delay; I took an extended Wikibreak mid-year, but will revisit this now. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:40, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- Done, marking satisfactory at URFA and unwatching (please check my corrections). Thanks Chris! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:56, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
