Fair use rationale for Image:ZidaneHeadbutt.gif
[edit]Image:ZidaneHeadbutt.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Huge animated gif
[edit]The animated gif, while it's good for the article, is a huge 500kb download. So as to make this article easier to download and navigate, I've replaced the inline image with a template that provides a caption and links to the image. --Tony Sidaway 16:00, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Early Career
[edit]I've supported Newcastle United all of my life, and never have I heard of Michael Hutchinson, nor have I ever come across anything that indicates that Materazzi ever has played for Newcastle. He only played against them once at Everton, in an FA Cup match, as he was suspended for the two league matches. He played against Newcastle for Inter Milan, and Craig Bellamy managed to get the fastest Champions League red card ever by punching Materazzi. Despite this history, nothing has ever emerged about a history at Newcastle, and unless this information was added by either Hutchinson or Materazzi themselves about an obscure patch in his life, I doubt the validity of the information. Should it be removed? 62.249.237.223 (talk) 02:11, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Headbutt incident vs Zidane
[edit]This should be at least mentioned in the article as it is what this player is 'infamous' for. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.189.114.142 (talk) 05:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Headbutt
[edit]Is it necessary for the headbutt incident to be displayed in the first few lines of the article? Surely, it deserves a mention, but why bother placing it so prominently? It's not like it's the single most defining moment of his career. Vasu619 (talk) 19:07, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Since nobody seems to give a damn, I'm going ahead and removing it. Vasu619 (talk) 14:40, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think its a pretty defining moment, first of all it's what made him famous to the world, especially people who aren't interested in football. It happened in the World Cup final he won, surly a defining moment. — CHANDLER#10 — 14:46, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, like I said, it certainly deserves a mention, but not necessarily in the lead. Vasu619 (talk) 07:48, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
On ESPN website there is written that Materazzi says to Zidane "I would prefer your sister" no "I would prefer that bitch of your sister" why do you need to write something that was not said? Why do you need to add your interpretation of the facts? Please explain as wikipedia should be a source of unbiased information and not a bunch of ideas that come up to your mind.
Zidane-Materazzi Incident
[edit]It isn't clear (and probably we'll never find out) if Materazzi insulted Zidane before the incident. This part of the article should be corrected, even because there are no references for that sentence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.144.71.49 (talk) 23:09, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Foul player?
[edit]I know I might get many haters, but shouldn't it be mentioned that he is renowned for his foul play in football. I am not nor have I ever been a huge fan of soccer, but from the little I have picked up Materazzi is not the angel amongst the footballers. He is rather one of Lucifers closest friends. Not mentioning that Materazzi is a dirty footbaler seems to me as logical as not mentioning Rosie Ruiz have cheated. Just my six cents. --85.252.123.117 (talk) 23:34, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Unsourced paragraph
[edit]I removed from the page this dubious and unsourced paragraph (I've found nothing similar on the web):
- It seems that the Inter fans have developed their own song for Marco, suprisingly sung in English and taken from the Lady Ga Ga hit 'Paparazzi'. :Today a visitor to the San Siro can hear 'I'm your biggest fan, I'll follow you till you love me, Marco, Materazzi' echoing around the stadium.
If someone finds reliable sources, it may be added again to the page.--Carnby (Talk) 14:35, 7 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carnby (talk • contribs)
rumours
[edit]Materazzi has been, on more than one occasion, said to sexually affiliate with llamas, however this rumour is not only absurd, but completely untrue, several fans have admitted to starting the rumour, when asked about it they said it was "for the laughs." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inceptiontaco (talk • contribs) 20:01, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
File:MarcoMaterazzi.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion
[edit]An image used in this article, File:MarcoMaterazzi.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

Opening Sentence mentions Zidane?
[edit]"Best remembered" - sounds very subjective to me. I don't think that the biography of a player who was at the very top level for a decade should begin with a sentence about one specific incident (and also one that relates to another player). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.102.30.50 (talk) 01:26, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree. It was removed [1] but an ipv6 re-inserted it immediately after [2]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.46.157.118 (talk) 19:19, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
