Is it correct that Ouellet is "Cardinal of Quebec"?

Apart from the fact that Cardinals have a titular parish within Rome aren't they "at large". That is, isn't he the Archbishop of Quebec and a Cardinal of the Church? Avalon 20:14, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It is also OK to say that his very own brother was condemed for sexual assault on a minor girl... It is also OK to say that this say cardinal is against abortion... even if you were sexually assaulted... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.253.166.133 (talk) 18:20, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio?

[edit]

I only read first part of the Biography's section and it is word for word the same as on this site: [1]. Amqui (talk) 01:35, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, removing this now. The Interior (Talk) 01:44, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation?

[edit]

How to pronounce Ouellet?--93.220.34.141 (talk) 18:32, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In the media, they've been saying either "ooo-let" or "woo-let", I imagine the proper pron. has a softer vowel sound at the beginning. That "eu" that only french speakers can manage. See CP video The Interior (Talk) 18:48, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In french, it's close to how "Well-let" would be pronounced in english. "Ouellet" is really a common surname in Quebec. Boréal (talk) 18:59, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

His brother - not relevant here

[edit]

It seems factual that his brother plead guilty to sex with teenage girls. However, I doubt this is important enough for Marc Ouellet to be included here. If Paul Ouellet had his own page for any other reason, it would obviously be noteworthy there. Reference: National Catholic Reporter: Papabile of the Day by John L. Allen, 20 February 2013. >> M.P.Schneider,LC (parlemusfeci) 09:11, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I do agree with you, per WP:BLP, although the NCR article has the date wrong. Local media sources (in French) [2] [3] [4] discussed the November 2009 conviction of Paul Ouellet on two charges of sexual misconduct on two female teenagers. Bouchecl (talk) 13:03, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Je ne parle pas fracais (after 8 years of forced government bilingualization in Alberta). I trust you regarding the French media. >> M.P.Schneider,LC (parlemusfeci) 08:42, 26 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Brother not relevant?

[edit]

I find hillarious to say that his brother is a pedophile is not relevant. Is relevant that his father was a farmer or where he attended mass? I am fed up with people adorning catholic prelates articles. last week i had to undo John Paul I article because somebody deleted that there were conspiracy theories about his death. To hide information is to lie and to lie is a sin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.47.192.235 (talk) 20:26, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Where he went to mass is about Marc Ouellet himself, the subject of the article, his father is relevant since he is the one who raised him. What his brother do when they both live separate lifes is not relevant. Unless they were living together, or Marc Ouellet was implicated in some way (with sources), then it would be relevant. It has nothing to do with adorning catholic articles, it has to do with what is the subject of the article. The sentence you added brings no information at all about Marc Ouellet. Amqui (talk) 15:29, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

i think that a paedophilia case in a so close relative is very relevant. If he would be elected pope any media would report about it. I consider this relevant and i am going to add it as long as i have leisure time. To hide information is to lie and to lie is a sin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.47.192.236 (talk) 13:10, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Two other people agreed it is not in the previous section in March 2013, and me now, while you are only one suggesting it is relevant. Consensus is clear in my opinion. Amqui (talk) 23:18, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I too agree that his brother's crimes are not relevant here. I'd also like to point out that the stance taken above, "i am going to add it as long as i have leisure time" in the face of a mounting consensus not to have that content, is very likely to lead to a block and/or protection of the article. Huon (talk) 20:41, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Note that I already reported that on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. Amqui (talk) 20:59, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
