User: Tracadero. I removed from the article the following text. How reliable is Fernando de Castro Pereira Mouzinho de Albuquerque e Cunha? Contemporary Iberian genealogists earned great mustrust of scholars outside form Spain and Portugal because they continue centuries old distortions, stimulated by 'Limpieza de Sangre' when genealogists tried to make Spanish aristocracy into "old Christians" of Visigoth descent. Did he mention in his work converso ancestry of Padilla? If not, his work belongs to garbadge, one more dishonest sudo-scholarly rubbish.

I removed: Her paternal grandparents were García de Padilla and his wife Leonor de Vera, who served the Queen Violante of Aragon, wife of King Alfonso X of Castile, and descended from a bastard son of King Ramiro I of Aragon (daughter of Gonzalo de Vera, a distant relative of Benedict XIII de Luna, and wife Inés de Entenza).

Her maternal grandparents were Fernando or Fernán González de Henestrosa, Señor de Alcañices (son of Gonzalo Pérez de Henestrosa and wife), who (is claimed by some without any substance: User: Tracadero) a descendant from Hisham III, the last Emir of Cordoba, and wife Aldonza Ramírez de Silva (daughter of Ramiro de Silva, Señor de Cifuentes, and wife Aldonza González or Ruíz Girón), (also according to some unsubstantiated claims: User: Tracadero) descendant from Hisham III the last Emir of Cordoba, through King Alfonso VI of Castile's fourth marriage.

This part of article is irrelevant because the article is about Maria de Padilla not about her sister: She had a sister, Leonor de Padilla, married to Fernando de Villagera, Commander of Usagre in the Order of Santiago, whose daughter, Mécia Fernández de Villagera y Padilla, married her twice cousin Ruy Martínez de Vera, Senõr de Rabaneta, Commander of Alcuesca in the Order of Santiago, Chamberlain and Room Master of Infante Don Enrique de Aragon, son of Martín de Vera, Ambassador to the Pope, and wife Teresa de Centelles, and had issue among the Nobility of both Spain and Portugal. Converso Ancestry

Maria de Padilla was not of converso ancestry. This is conjecture same as the claim of her descent from the Prophet Mohammed.Welsh4ever76 (talk) 06:10, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

  • She was not a converso or of converso ancestry. Her ancestors were Christians back to Isabel/Zaida but this may not have been her ancestor at all. Even if this line is correct they were not Jews but Muslims. Welsh4ever76 (talk) 08:45, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

      • I have read all supposed lines of descent but I still doubt that she had any converso ancestry. Why is there such an attempt to claim European royals have female Jewish lineage at some point. It seems a bit of an agenda. Especially when these lines actually indicate Arab ancestry.Welsh4ever76 (talk) 04:11, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I just saw on numerous articles relating to the House of York that their "great, great, great gandparent was Maria de Padilla, of Jewish descent" and was curious what the deal was too. Strange. - Yorkshirian (talk) 19:58, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

It is strange that they would focus on this. She was Castillian and not of Jewish extraction. In fact I think her family was very much against the Jewish presence in Spain and had strict rules about associating with them. 76.92.210.222 (talk) 23:45, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
