Why is there a separate article for the DHKP/C insurgency. There should a merger. Charles Essie (talk) 16:39, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Weak Oppose - the article on Maoist insurgency hadn't including DHKP/C, until you added it. Thus originally, the articles are distinctive. Further more, there is no source that DHKP/C is Maoist. Can you provide such? if it is indeed Maoist, then i would not oppose.GreyShark (dibra) 21:17, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It says so in DHKP/C's article. I thought that was enough. Charles Essie (talk) 21:48, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Support - merge two articles into: Communist insurgency in Turkey MLMist (talk)
I was going to suggest that after the merge because not all of the militants are Maoists. The MLKP for example, are Hoxhaists. Charles Essie (talk) 19:53, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This may be the solution.GreyShark (dibra) 21:41, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
DHKP-C isn't Maoist. DHKP-C is a Guevarist organization. This arcticle about Maoist insurgency.
Beyaz Deriili (talk) 20:09, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Be that as it may, I see no reason why there should not be single article for Turkey's "communist" insurgency. Charles Essie (talk) 21:00, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know but it is more better than one article.
Beyaz Deriili (talk) 16:13, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Why? What's wrong with having a single article titled Communist insurgency in Turkey? Charles Essie (talk) 16:51, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm putting the tags back up because it's ridiculous that these articles are separate. This has never been exclusively Maoist insurgency because all of the Maoist groups are very closely allied to and often work hand in hand (especially lately) with non-Maoist groups like such as the PKK (libertarian socialist), the MLKP (Hoxhaist), and the DHKP/C (traditional Marxist-Leninist). Charles Essie (talk) 17:40, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Though i did express an opinion here, i do consider myself pretty much neutral. Even without my vote, there are 2 supports and 1 oppose. This is not consensus.GreyShark (dibra) 18:06, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if the fate of this article has been decided but I support merging these articles into a new page called Communist insurgency in Turkey. Some of the groups have worked together in the past, I will provide sources for this later as it will take some searching to find them, and it would make more sense if these pages were all added together into one article. Also not all of these groups mentioned in the group are even Maoist. --FPSTurkey (talk) 08:54, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Alt merge to Left-wing insurgency in Turkey; alternatively (but only second-best) to Communist insurgency in Turkey, as proposed by MLMist and supported by FPSTurkey and – if I got it right – also by Greyshark09. Consider including some material from Political violence in Turkey (1976–80) and Kurdish–Turkish conflict (1978–present).
I agree with the sceptics that DHKP/C aren't Maoists, and that for the most time they did not wage a single, coordinated insurgency. However, in the last years internal strife has largely given way in favor of limited cooperation. Anyway, doing insurgency is the main thing DHKP/C and the others are known for, so the more detailed material should probably live in the organisations' main articles.
There is substantial interest however in an overview article that does focus on the larger context of left-wing insurgency in Turkey, which would include the no longer communist PKK/HPG. The official party ideology may in some other cases still be orthodox Communist/Maoist, but on the grounds, given the substantial support by particular sectors of the general population, being a militant left-wing opposition against oppressive Kemalism (CHP mainstream), Islamic fascism (MHP) and the Muslim Brotherhood (AKP) is what unites their battles. Finally, in a country where all major parties represent different flavors of right-wing politics, you don't have to be particularly extreme to become a left-wing militant. --PanchoS (talk) 11:10, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Still weak oppose to the merge, because for the past 1.5 years since this proposal was first filed - there has been no notable Maoist insurgency, while DHKP/C has been quite active. "Leftist insurgency in Turkey" can still be a disambuguation page, but there doesn't seem to be any co-ordinated campaign of the ultra-Leftist parties.GreyShark (dibra) 13:03, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Actually there is a coordinated campaign. Most of the communist groups have joined the PKK-led Peoples' United Revolutionary Movement which is active. Charles Essie (talk) 14:35, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article naming

[edit]

Why is this called "Maoist insurgency"? Maoist are just one of the many different far-left groups. The article name should be changed to Far-left insurgency. Besides why does the DHKPC have its own artice it should also be merged with this article so that we have one article that represents all far-left groups. That's what I've been saying. Charles Essie (talk) 02:14, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
