To add a personal observation
[edit]I remember standing along the path so many of my Cherokee ancestors took near Mantle Rock and feeling an overwhelming sense of sadness and despair. They huddled near the road and many died due to the harsh conditions. Such a lingering agony can be experienced as you walk the trail. I don't believe anyone in our group talked for most of the way. Some were even crying, myself included. Others prayed softly.Tsistunagiska (talk) 17:58, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
