Renumbering

[edit]

"Some have suggested that the highway north of Emerson Junction to Winnipeg be renumbered 29 due to the main link to I-29. Some renumbering proposals entirely delete Highway 75 by designating the portion between Emerson Junction, Emerson, and the border as Highway 29A."

Who has ever made this suggestion? I don't recall any public figures making statements about it, or any newspapers or other media outlets referring to it. "Some" is a classic weasel word if it only refers to the views of the person who wrote the above paragraph.

Similar speculation existed over at Manitoba Provincial Highway 29. After three weeks of no response over there to a call for sources, and finding no Google backup, I deleted it. Doing the same over here. This isn't the place for idle roadgeek speculation. VT hawkeyetalk to me 03:20, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As of 2012, Manitoba re-routed Highway 75 to the Emerson-Pembina border and eliminated Highway 29. The former part of Hwy 75 running from the Emerson junction to the old intersection of highways 75 & 200 near the Emerson-Noyes border crossing is now part of extended Provincial Road 200. The remaining portion of the old 75 from that intersection to the closed border crossing is decommissioned. Source: http://www.canhighways.com/MB/75.php, you will also see Google Maps shows the new PR 200. rkehler3 12:20, 21 August 2012(UTC)
