MICAA Sports

[edit]
  • Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association
  • Just to clarify, the MICAA was a sports league like the UAAP and NCAA, except that it was not a collegiate league. It just happened to best known for its basketball tournament

MICAA champions

[edit]

Ysmael won the challenge to champions tournament in 1958, but its not yet clear if they had won the MICAA crown, but I could assumed 80% they did. The video48 Blogspot shows Crispa winning the 1970 or 1971? President's Cup against Meralco, and by 1974 before the PBA was born, it is said Crispa won four MICAA titles, so 1970, 1971 and October 1974 were alright, and there are two MICAA tournaments in 1972 and 1974 I guess, the other championship Crispa won would probably be in 1972 as stated in Baby Dalupan's book. But my problem now is that on the old sports world 1973 edition that was uploaded on facebook, it is said Mariwasa is the defending champions of both '72 tournaments plus the national seniors (Mariwasa was dethrone by SMC in early '73) and some more research points to Crispa winning an earlier tournament in 1974 that will count to four titles. Hope to have a more clear view of that period 1970-1974. Edmon74 05:58, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
