Hi all, i am frim Kerala and i have heard about Mani Damodara Chakyar. i think this article is a good article and gives us the information about one of the famous Koodiyattam artist of our era. The informative article gives me details about Mani Damodara Chakyar and his contribution to Koodiyattam. He is a part of the great revolution of bringing koodiyattam to outside world with his guru legendary Mani Madhava Chakyar- about whom no one needs an introduction. It is worth mentioning that article on Koodiyattam ( which is the only surving ancient drama theatre in entire world and its having UNESCO's recognition ) artist is valuable.
As the article gives us the very rare picture of "Mattavilasa" very rare and unique koothu, performed almost only by Mani Damodara Chakyar, is agreat treat. It is taken from inside the Koothambalam where still outsiders (otherthan so called priestly casts of Hindus) are not allowed to enter. As you will notice the only foto of Mattavilasa koothu, available in entire internet is throgh this article of wikipedia. And he is one of the very few person who performs these Koothu. Artist has played the main important role in all new Koodiyattam which Mani Madhava Chakyar choreographed and directed and played in entire India. The artist is an award winner in the field of Koodiyattam and he is the one who performs koothu in, important temples like Taliparamba Rajarajeshwara Temple, Kottiyoor,Triprayar, Guruvayur, Peruvanam, Killikkurussi Mahadeva Temple etc for several years. Its very nice to see an article about nephew and student of the great Padmasree Mani Madhava Chakyar- evergreat Koodiyattam artist. I rate it as one of the best article about performing artists from Kerala. Thanking you all team of wikipedia for such an excellent article. I rate it as |class=B article. 202.160.174.4 11:37, 24 August 2006 (UTC) |
