I think Image:Mangajin.jpg is not for *real* Mangajin. According to this website, this is a kind of parody. Mulukhiyya 20:18, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gaijin?

[edit]

I've moved this sentence here: "The double pun is that Gaijin is a Japanese word meaning foreigner or outsider."

I'm willing to accept it being a pun on "magazine" (although I think this is really more in English than in Japanese), but I'd like to see some evidence before I accept that it is meant to pun "gaijin" as well. The first vowel sound is completely different without the "i" in there. And what would that mean anyway, "ten thousand foreigners?"211.129.135.5 (talk) 01:47, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see this has been added/replaced without comment: "...a double pun in that Gaijin (外人?, [ɡaidʑiɴ]) is a Japanese word for "foreigner," "non-Japanese", or "alien". Thus, it is "A Manga magazine for outsiders"."

A manga magazine for foreigners? So 漫画マガジン外人? I think you're pushing the pun way too far, having to add in a whole new vowel sound, and I very highly doubt that the creators had this meaning in mind. There's a large section on the word "gaijin" in the second issue, and they make no mention of it being in the name of their magazine at all. I'll leave it in since you're apparently very sure, but it really needs some sort of confirmation.60.158.34.238 (talk) 02:31, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
