Singles Chart
[edit]On the 15th of June a column was added with this diff to include the peak chart positions of singles on the Pop 100 chart. The reference tag <ref name="USsin"/> caused a cite error. Following the creation of the US Pop column, additional entries were madewith no source to support the added data. There is no evidence I have seen that indicates that any singles by Mandy Moore ever appeared on the Billboard Pop 100 before "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week".
The table also included a column for the Billboard Hot 100. However the same problem was in this column as well. While the column had a valid source, that source indicated that only "Candy" and "I Wanna Be with You" actually appeared on the Billboard Hot 100.
In an attempt to ensure that only referenced information was included in the table I combined the two columns and added a note to indicate that the peak positions came from a number of charts. Then the edit was reverted as vandalism. In that editors defense, I had made a small mistake and failed to reduce the colspan value of the Peak Chart Positions field from 5 to 4. This caused the table to appear broken.
As far as I know, none of these charts are included at WP:BADCHARTS so there is no reason not to include them. So I reverted back to my changes and fixed the table. This may not be the best way to present the peak chart position of the singles, but it is the one I came up with. If there is a better way please go ahead and us it. Until then please do not undo my changes and recreate the cite error. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 10:35, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- Various charts should not be included all in one column. The Pop 100 (now defunct) is not the same thing as Mainstream Top 40, Rhythmic Top 40, etc. Those are component charts and should not be used. There was nothing wrong with how it was set up before. If anything, the Pop 100 column can be deleted as the chart no longer exists, but to combine a whole bunch of component charts into one column is misleading/confusing. - eo (talk) 11:17, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- The problem is that now the column [[Billboard Hot 100|US]] includes chart positions that are not supported by the source. For that matter, how can you be ranked 102 on a 100 position chart? 75.69.0.58 (talk) 04:02, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
