Umm, no explanation of the song's lyrics nor origin? hrm. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.11.76.49 (talk) 06:56, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
origin of song
[edit]I was curious about the unsourced claim that the song "based on Paul Witt's 1964 American hit A Quiet Place". I can find no trace of this artist or record online - e.g. in discogs or 45cat - and the link leads to an article on a different Paul Witt. I'm going to remove this assertion but if someone has a good source for it, please restore it and reference it. Personally I suspect that if the origin of the song is worth mentioning at all it should refer to the Garnet Mimms song, also called "A Quiet Place", whose lyrics do in part resemble those of Man Next Door and may well have inspired it - it was even covered in Jamaica by Prince Buster, under the title "Johnny Dollar" so if John Holt did base the song on this one it may have been on that version rather than Mimms's. But the tune is completely different so it seems a bit tenuous to include it here, and the only references I can find that connect the two songs are obscure blog posts.
