Talk:Mambo (dance)
Unbalanced Content
[edit]Looking at the current state of this article, I think that a rewrite may be required. The article is dominated by a contentious debate over what is and what isn't "Mambo". Reading the article learns a lot about (what some people think) the mambo dance isn't, but very little about what the mambo dance is. I would also doubt whether its the place of a Wikipedia article to declare that the form of dance known in New York today as "Mambo" has no actual claim to the name.
I think that the article would benefit from being restructured, with sections on the different forms of mambo that exist:
- Cuban Mambo
- Classic New York Mambo ( Angel Rodriguez Razzmtazz post Palladium era)
- Ballroom Mambo
- Modern Mambo (Eddie Torres et al)
This would be similar to the article on Tango (dance), which gives info on the various forms on Tango without getting into debates over "What Is or Isn't Dancing Tango". -Humblebum75 (talk) 10:59, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
I agree that there is mis-information in this article. I have access to printed materials from the late 50's that describe on-2 mambo for instruction in ballroom dance schools, which eventually forked into the slower, on-2 cha-cha. I'd be happy to introduce a ballroom mambo section in this article, as I have contributed to the Tango articles as well as created the Tango (ballroom) article. porfitron (talk) 14:59, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Removed. That didn't make sense, and I don't know why nobody caught it earlier.Steel Wool Killer (talk) 03:57, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Page has an angry tone to it, as a personal affront. Should be made MUCH more impartial. Evil Prince (talk) 16:44, 4 December 2008 (UTC) |
